Current Favourite Designer Sunglasses

I believe another essential item and fashion accessory, especially this time of year is sunglasses, they add that something extra to an outfit, especially on holidays and also when we get the chance to wear at home, weather permitting!  There are so many styles, colours and brands to choose, the choice is endless.  I own a number of pairs of sunglasses and always on lookout for more but thought I would do a quick post to show you my current favourite pairs – all slightly different styles.  I bought all of the four pairs below for less than £50 each at various discount / outlet stores, some a few years ago.

CHLOE Burgundy with Silver Tone Trim

Love the larger frame which are very comfortable to wear – Chloe is embossed in silver on the burgundy trim on the side, they also have burgundy trim around the glass at the edge.  Love the case that Chloe sunglasses come in too although bulky – v stylist as well.

MIU MIU Rose Gold and Dark Brown Tortoise Patterned Frame with Diamante Detail

Such a comfortable pair of glasses too – v good fit  – the gold tone and tortoise pattern works so well together  and the slight diamante detail at the side  is the perfecting finishing touch.  The case is not just as stylist but fits glasses perfectly and is secure.

MIU MIU Silvertone with Openwork Detail

Another pair of MIU MIU glasses – bought these as they were so different.  Also a perfect fit and the silver tone openwork detail makes them stand out as so unusual – bought these a few years ago and have never seen anything like them since.    Love wearing these especially when I am wearing silver jewellery.

And last but not least the pair I currently wear the most:

Fendi Black Frame with FF detail on sides

These are my absolute favourite at the moment – they are perfect for any occasion, any outfit, fit perfectly, no sunlight can get in at the sides, the FF detail at the sides is stylist but not too over the top either, just absolutely love this pair.

I hope you enjoyed my short post and remember although designer sunglasses can be expensive if you shop around online and in stores especially discounts stores you can get them at greatly reduced prices so as always definitely worth shopping around before you purchase.

Love to hear what your favourite pair / pairs of sunglasses are and if you have got any  bargains?

Thank you for looking  and look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

My Little ‘Friends’ Box – August 2016

image

I received my August My Little Box last Saturday  – it is a Parisian based monthly subscription box which costs £14.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month.    Each month My Little Box has a different theme and the box is always beautifully illustrated in line with that theme.  This month’s theme is ‘Friends’.

Each month My Little Box contains the usual high quality glossy booklet, which I love reading, additional product information cards, the My  Little Box cloth drawstring bag, red hearts with cream background this month, (which contains the three to four beauty / skincare products usually three – one of which is a My Little Box item), two accessory items and a beautiful card that can be framed.  Included in this months box are:  image

  • A Nail Kit in a Gorgeous Case – File, nail clippers, cuticle stick and patterned emery file come in this beautiful designed case, pattern of which is throughout box.   Case is embossed with  ‘My Little Box on the front and ‘#NAILSINPROGRESS’ on the back – secure clasp closure =£7.50; (absolutely love this case, not sure about quality of items within – however very pleased to see this included – absolutely love the pattern);
  • Clip On Fisheye All Smartphones – £12  – comes in a the matching pattern gift box gift with a small drawstring bag  (this is only one of the reasons I love this box, such a great item to be included, one you would not think of but I have tried already and it works v well, able to get wide screen shots in v easily – however will still need a bit more practice);
  • Batiste Stylist Hold Me Hairspray- 75ml –  £4.49 for 400ml  – (smells like hairspray as you would expect – I have tried few times and did give more hold to my hair but thankfully with no stickiness/ crunchiness  – not v excited about this product but will still use it);
  • Kadalys Comforting  Face and Neck Cream – Yellow Banana and Mango– 40ml –  (never heard of this brand – it is a thick white cream that leaves a lovely sheen to the skin, slightly sticky when you first apply, need to only to use a small amount at a time and leave for a few minutes, initially impressed, only negative is the slight stickiness);
  • My Little Beauty Summer Lips SPF 15 – full size – £12 – (a tinted lip balm that applies smoothly and gives a wash of dark pink red colour – feels nice on the lips and love the packaging – happy SPF included too); and
  • Also included in this months box was a packet of Sweet & Salty Proper Corn – £1.

I am delighted with the contents of this months box, which I think are  excellent value for money,  I will use everything,  only item not really excited about is the hairspray but do not mind as all the other products, accessories, extra special details and the box design more than make up for it.   Even though I was more than happy with last month’s box, I prefer this months –  you can see what I got in last months box  here.  I still am hoping I will receive more makeup up items in future boxes as recently there has been a lot of skincare items included.   I would definitely recommend subscribing to this box as it gives you something slightly different / contains a variety of items and is a lovely surprise each month.image

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know and if you would like a separate review on any of the above products just let me know.  Also if you received this months box would love to know what you thought, what were your favourite items this month?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Glossybox – August 2016 Review

image

Glossybox UK is five years old this month and as part of their celebrations they have collaborated with Rae Feather for this months box, a beautiful matt pink and grey box.  Glossybox is a  monthly subscription box which costs £10.00 (plus p&p) per month and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.

Five personalised beauty products are included each month which are normally sent wrapped in pink tissue paper with a black bow in the signature pink Glossybox (this month is a collector’s edition / collaboration).  You can sign up through my referral link Glossyboxreferral and then just enter code AUGGIFTUK at checkout to get a free beauty goodie bag when you subscribe  (valid to 31.08.16 or while stocks last).

image

Included in this months box is the usual product  / beauty information card which also contains discount offers/codes,  a beautiful zipped pouch and the following four products – I will do separate reviews on each product once I get a chance to try them properly:

  • MUA Makeup Academy Professional – Hall of Fame – Full Size– £4.00– (this was the sneak peek this month – we were able to select the colour we preferred from  four colour options, I chose the Hall of Fame – neutrals and grey shades – impressed already with colour pay out,  especially for the price, although not sure how long lasting);
  • MUDMASKY Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask – 20 ml (travel size) Full Size 60ml =£53(Never heard of this brand before and looking forward to trying this product, hoping for great results taking account of the price of the full size product);
  • Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Body lotion  – 30 ml (small travel size) Full Size 300ml £20 – (I have tried this product in the past as it has been included in a number of beauty boxes / gifts, it is a hydrating body lotion and leaves skin smooth and silky to the touch – however I feel the ginger fragrance slightly overpowers the other essential oils, bit too strong for me personally – also feel a larger travel size could have been included, for those who do like this fragrance );
  • Spa To You Deep Pore Cleansing Facial Brush and Massager Full Size£6.99 – (another brand I am not familiar with – happy to see this included as I never tried a facial cleansing brush yet – always have been a little bit concerned about using them – however will definitely give this a go as states can be used with any cleanser and will let you know how I get on);
  • and last but definitely not least;
  • Rae Feather Mini Monogram Pochette– £20(love the inclusion of this zipped pouch this month – exclusively designed for Glossybox by Rae Feather to celebrate their birthday – cloth exterior and wipe clean interior – perfect for cleaning any spillages).

I am pleased with this months selection, three full size items, good selection of products, brands, including two new brands for me.  I am looking forward to trying / using four of these products especially the eye shadow palette, pouch and mask but still hoping more makeup items will be included in next months box – the spoiler below is giving me high hopes already.

*SPOILER* September Sneak Peek – states next month Glossybox are giving our lashes all they could desire with a collagen fuelled formula and hourglass shaped brushthe Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara – (looks like it will be a deluxe sample size).

Real Techniques ‘Core’ Brush Set

Another v good offer currently on at Boots and which I got  is the Real Techniques by Sam & Nic Core Collection Brush Set which is now half price – £10.99, reduced from £ 21.99 (the four piece starter set is also now half price – £10.99).

The CORE set contains four brushes; the contour brush, pointed foundation brush, detailer brush and buffing brush and a white panoramic case which is a dual carrier and stand.  I love the colour way of this set, black  and a bright copper , the brand name and brush type is  written / embossed  onto the handles.

The set contains a:

  • Contour Brush – brush has soft bristles although firm enough for applying highlighter or contouring;image
  • Pointed Foundation Brush – slightly different cut to other foundation brushes – however I found it  v good for applying liquid foundation so easy to achieve the buildable coverage you prefer / want with this brush, would prefer the brush a little bit bigger though;image
  • Detailer Brush – this brush is v good for applying concealer, as a lip brush, or you can also use it for applying eye shadow at the corner of the eyelid to add definition;image
  • Buffing Brush – I found that this was perfect for applying powder / mineral foundation/ Finishing powder.image
  • Panoramic Case – white case with a Velcro closure – can be used as a carry case which is a perfect for keeping brushes organised especially for travelling or as a stand which is also a great way to dry the brushes.

I love this set and the quality of these Real Techniques brushes – the bristles are soft enough not to aggravate your skin yet firm enough that they apply makeup v well- they are also so easy to clean and dry v quickly as well.   I am v happy with my purchase because as well as getting it for half price I was able to use the points I had built up on my advantage card to purchase set so that meant I got this set  for ‘free’.

I definitely would recommend taking a look at this set /current offers at Boots, especially if you have enough points on your card to get it for ‘free’.  I would also recommend considering purchasing the expert face brush from this range as I absolutely love this slightly firmer brush for applying solid powder foundation or all over bronzer or even blusher – details for it here.  However as always before you purchase always check around on line and in stores to make sure this is the best value available at the time if you intend to purchase.

I hope you found this useful and would love to know if you have already purchased this set or intend to.

Thank you for looking  and look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

The Body Shop / Vouchercodes UK Nail Varnish Freebie Offer

image

I wanted to let you know about this great free offer while it is currently available as I love freebies and hate people missing out on any, especially beauty items.  When you download the Vouchercodes UK app on your phone you can claim a free body crush nail varnish worth £5 (6.8ml) at  Body Shop stores until 21st August 2016 or while stocks last.  A choice of colours are available and once you make your choice in store just select the use voucher on the vouchercode app on your phone, show to the Sales Assistant at the counter / till and as simple as that you have a new nail varnish absolutely free.  Vouchercodes UK also have a number of other offers available so remember to check them out to see if you can make use of any of them.

I was lucky enough to get two nail varnish with this offer as had two phones with the app downloaded on both, my husband’s and mine – so many colours to choose from but I chose 650 – Mad about Blue – as you would expect a blue shade, a mix between royal and denim blue and 630 – Minty Amour – more a teal / jade green shade.  I have swatched them both and two coats gives a good opaque / strong colour, the brush may not just be as good as some high-end brands but it does apply the polish evenly, not sure how long lasting yet but initially v impressed, especially as received absolutely free, great way to try new products.

I hope you found this useful and would love to know what colour(s) you have chosen / hoping to choose – I also intend to do short posts on other offers I have been lucky enough to get and are still available.

Thank you for looking  and look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Birchbox (Bag) August 2016 Review

image

I received my August Birchbox on Monday – it is a monthly subscription box which costs £12.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.  Five personalised beauty treats are included each month and this month’s box theme is ‘Dive In’  and for this month only in line with the Scuba theme, Birchbox have included a Scuba Birchbag(each member will receive one of four colours – just the zip is a different colour)  instead of the usual drawstring bag and outer Birchbox – although love the normal drawstring bag was happy to see a zipped bag included for a change.

This month as well as the Birchbag every subscriber received a waterproof eyeliner in one of two shades, usual product  / beauty information booklet,  four additional products  based on profile and a little sample extra–  I received the following in my ‘Pink Pufferfish’ Birchbag:

 image

  • Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Mulberry  (Deluxe sample size) – Full Size =  £10.50 – happy to see an eyeliner included as love eyelinersyou could have received it in either Expresso or Mulberry – although I love brown eyeliners too was v happy to receive the mulberry colour as perfect for my green/hazel eyes – it is a beautiful purple colour which in different lights has glipses of gold, pinks, not as noticeable when you apply on your eyes as when you swatch it e.g. on your arm.  Although  colour not very strong / opaque when you first apply, it is buildable and  easy to apply.  I have used by itself and at the outer corners of the eyes and like it both ways, I find it is long lasting, does not budge and definitely waterproof, more a smoky eye so if you wanted a stronger colour could apply black eyeliner first and this eyeliner on top- will definitely purchase in a different colour too;
  • Parlor by Jeff Chastain Volumising Lifting Spray – 30ml (travel size) – Full size =£17 for 147ml  – This is a Birchbox exclusive  – have used a number of products from this range through Birchbox and have been impressed to date so expecting good things and looking forward to using it;
  • Balance Me Radiance Face Mask –15ml (travel size) – full size= £18 for 75 ml – Balance Me seems to be a popular brand to be included in beauty boxes / special offers at the moment and therefore have received  and tried a number of their products, although I enjoy using their products cannot say I have noticed any major difference to my skin since using them- have used the mask once  and although skin felt clean / fresh, did not notice any visual difference to the skin but will keep using to see if results improve with usage;
  • Anatomicals the buff stuff Citrus Body Scrub– 50ml (travel size) – Full Size 200ml and is £3.99 – Citrus fragrance but not overpowering – looking forward to using – perfect travel size for a short break; and
  • Merci Handy Antibacterial Hand Cleansing Gel  30mlFull size £2.90 – ‘handy’ handbag size perfect for travelling although a v strong alcohol smell, similar to some other antibacterial hand gels,   left hands soft and fragrance died down when product sank into skin but I found fragrance slightly overpowering at the beginning but did feel like your hands were being cleansed but I will not be rushing out to purchase in the near future.
  • There also was a sample sachet of the NUDE Omega Cleansing Jelly included in the Birchbag as an extra – small sample but was happy to receive as an extra as love majority of NUDE products too.

I love the addition of the zipped Scuba bag this month, very useful although the one I received was slightly stained and the interior does smell strongly of rubber as you would expect but it is great to store goodies in.  When I first opened the bag I was slightly disappointed,  as bag was not that full and the one full size item was small and only costs £2.90 however now I have had a chance to try most of the products although I am still not overly excited by this months products I am content enough, not as good as last month’s, you can see what I got / last month’s review  here,  but sometimes that is the way it goes with subscription boxes, a really good box one or two months  which builds up your expectations and then when you receive an ok box you are very disappointed.   I love the eyeliner this month, pleased with the lifting spray and body scrub and although may not be rushing out to purchase the mask and the hand gel will still use them.  Although not as good a value as other months, still an ok mix of makeup, skincare and haircare products which I am happy to receive although in future boxes as always I am hoping I will receive more makeup up items.

If you are interested,  you can sign up  through my referral link www.birchbox.co.uk/invite and you will receive £5 worth of Birchbox points and currently if you use the code SCUBA at checkout you will receive a FREE full-size Mirenesse Glossy Kiss (worth £17.50) when you join – while stocks last.  (However please remember this may be sent separately).

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know and if you would like a separate review on any of the above products just let me know.

Lookfantastic Beauty Box – August 2016

My August 2016 Lookfantastic beauty box  arrived last Saturday (it is a monthly subscription box which costs £15 per month (inc p&p) or from £11.25 for a 12 month subscription)and I was excited to see what was included as the theme of this month’s box was best of  / favourite British brands.

image

Included within this months box is the September 2016 edition of Elle (£4.10), the product  / beauty information booklet and the following six products (photos below):

  • Percy & Reed Wonder Hair Balm – 30ml (travel size) –  £18.00 for 75ml
  • Renu Skin Lip & Eye Active Lift – 7ml (travel size) – £31.95 for 15ml
  • Bee Good Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm – 10 ml (full size) – £4.75;
  • Balance Me Congested Skin Serum – 7ml – (full size) = £10;
  • Bloom and Blossom Rejuvenating Facial Spritz – 40ml– (travel size) – £15 for 100ml
  •  and
  • Ren Flash Defence Anti Pollution Mist – 9ml (travel size) – £24 for 60ml
My current 3 month subscription finished this month so have decided not to renew it at this stage as  I have been considering which beauty boxes to stay subscribed too anyway, as subscribed to so many at the moment and this month’s box just did not excite me enough to make me want to renew my subscription.  However will consider subscribing again in the future if I see a good subscription offer or if more makeup items are included on a regular basis.

Thank you for looking – love your comments on what you thought of this month’s box and which beauty boxes you love reading reviews on?.

Boot’s Hair Styling ‘Clamps’ Duo

Another one of the accessories I cannot be without is the Boot’s Hair Styling ‘Clamp’ – I know seems a strange name but accurate as it does clamp your hair.   I know it may not be a statement fashion accessory but to me it is one fashion / hairstyle accessory I cannot be without on a daily basis so I wanted to share the reasons why with you.

image

As I have long very fine hair I find it difficult to get a hair clasp or ‘clamp’ that will hold my hair securely, not fall down without hair grips, when I want to put it up either in a bun or plaited,  up and out-of-the-way.   Although I love having long hair I find it aggravates me (when it is down), when it is v hot, when I am on holidays, just doing housework or any DIY jobs so I need something that will hold my hair securely throughout and with the Boots hair styling clamp I have found the perfect thing.    Boots do have smaller, larger  and similar versions of this clamp in store however this  one is the perfect one for my hair.

There is a black and brown clamp in the duo, they are hard plastic with a strong silver tone spring-loaded closure which makes the ‘teeth’ close together v securely so that is why I believe it holds fine hair securely too. I always try to have a few spares one but I personally find they do last well unless you mislay one or you put it in your bag with other items – ‘teeth’ can get broken v easily this way as you would expect.  I cannot recommend these clamps highly enough (especially for those of you with fine hair like me) not just for the quality, results but also because of the v reasonable price of £3.49 for the duo – I can only find the single one online at the moment and it is £2.49 but check your local Boot’s store for the duo.

I hope you found this useful and for those of you who were thinking where are all those fashion posts?? – lots to come v soon.

Thank you for looking  and look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Best Wishes Liz x
