L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil and Scrub

L’Occitane have a number of products that I enjoy using but  their Almond collection is my favourite out of the body skincare range.  I  love all the products within this range but the two stand out products from this range for me are the Cleansing and Softening Shower Oil and Cleansing and Exfoliating Shower Scrub .

If you have never tried any products from the Almond range please do not be put off by the name as the products do not have a strong ‘almond’ nutty scent, it is a beautiful, relaxing and refreshing almond tree flower fragrance.

Almond Shower Oil Firstly the Shower Oil which comes in different sizes and is £18 for 250 ml and £29.75 for 500 ml. unless on special offers.  It is described as a shower oil that when it gets in contact with water, transforms into a lavish, softening foam, that leaves a satin-like softness all over the body.     It is a golden oil which feels so silky when you apply to your skin but once you start adding water it transforms into a milky, creamy, smoothing foam which feels delightful on the skin and leaves my skin so soft and rinses off easily.    You need very little and because I love it so much sometimes I  can get carried away and use too much but it is worth the indulgence.  I find it is a multiuse product as I use in a bath under running water and I also love using it for shaving under my arms or legs too as  I personally have never had any irritation and it leaves my skin so soft – however as always make sure if you want to use it this way too test a small area first to make sure it is suitable for you too.

This is a product I repurchase but as always before repurchasing I  check online / in stores  to get the best offer available at that time as  larger sizes / special value sets are often available on L’Occitane’s own site / in-store or QVC UKthere are a number of different combinations available at the moment on both sites for the shower oil.    However was v lucky recently and received a 75m bottle (bottle in photo above) with the July 2016 edition of Harper’s Bazaar – see recent post here.

Almond Shower Body Scrub Secondly the Almond Shower Body Scrub which  is £18 for 200 ml but duo currently available on QVC for £24  – (it is a squeezable tube with the opening in the top, no need to take off the top, just screw the top to release the product) . It is described as a foaming and melting jelly which softly cleanses and exfoliates the skin to remove impurities and dead cells, as enriched with almond oil and crushed shells.   After using this body scrub, skin is soft, smooth and delicately scented with the fresh and delicate fragrance of almond tree flowers.  You are advised to apply with soft massage movements onto wet skin. lather and rinse, and it is also suitable for daily use.  I apply as advised and I find it is just perfect, and although  you can feel the small particles when you massage the product onto your skin they do not  feel ‘coarse’ as some scrubs can feel.

My skin is left soft, smooth, hydrated and with no dry patches.   The shower / bathroom and your skin is left enveloped in a beautiful fresh and delicate almond tree flower fragrance which I find lingers on your skin for most, if not all of the day especially if you build up your products and use with the shower oil too

I absolutely love this product, this is another product I always repurchase as I find the results justifies me repurchasing although as always I look for the best value available at the time and if I see a particularly good offer I may purchase two if I can as I know long-term more savings this way.  The only one improvement is that I would love a larger size bottle with a pump applicator.

I would definitely recommend trying both these two products as I do not think you will be disappointed but  try to get samples  if you can to try first before repurchasing the full sizes and always check online / in-store for best value available at the time.

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know and if you have tried either one or both of these products would love to know if you love them as much as me.

MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara

mac

As I have now got the chance to try the MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara properly I wanted to let you know my thoughts  and also how it compared to the Chanel sample I had received / reviewed here .  As advised before on my recent review of the Chanel mascara, there were MAC and Chanel mascara samples available to claim free online through Facebook/ notifications which  was the perfect opportunity to try a mascara for free to see if you liked it without having to buy the full size.

Just to remind you too, although MAC samples are now all gone online, still ask at MAC counters to see if they have any samples left that you could try – also currently if you still purchase any MAC items online you have option to choose a  free sample which includes mascara samples – also ask in store too as they may have samples available there as well with purchase(s).

The full size retails for £19, unless on offer (not as expensive as the Chanel Mascara which retails at £25 unless on offer too).   I would definitely recommend purchasing, although do try to get a sample first to see if you like it as much as me.  I intend to purchase the full size in either Debenhams with my  beauty club card points or MAC once I use the other free mascara samples I have gratefully received through online freebie notifications.

 Although I love both the MAC and Chanel mascaras and I personally found both delivered equally on results / quality and staying power,   if I had to choose between the two (with the exception of the packagingalthough nothing wrong with the full size MAC packaging however when you compare it to the Chanel packaging – the Chanel packaging is definitely ahead, which you would expect)) it would have to be the MAC mascara because of the price difference.

Thank you for looking – if you have any comments / queries please let me know.  Would love to know if you received this sample or have already tried this mascara and what you think of it – do you like it as much as I do?

Cohorted Beauty Box – July 2016

image

I received my July Cohorted box  last week  – it is a monthly ‘luxury’ subscription box which is currently one of the most expensive UK monthly beauty boxes at £35.00 (inclusive of p&p) per month, however total value of products are also of higher value.   Each month usually 4 / 6  products (majority of which are usually from high end brands) come in a magnetic / ribbon tie closure black box with tissue and shredded paper.

image

Included in this months box was the usual Cohorted glossy booklet which  contains details of products included within the box, additional information, a Zalando £10 discount voucher and the following products:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

  • Nars Monoi Body Glow 2 – 31 ml – £14.99(it has a beautiful tropical / relaxing fragrance love the scent and a tiare flower is contained within the bottle);
  • HD Brows Sculpt and Glow Palette– £45  – (a beautiful palette with built-in mirror with a beautiful creamy duo – a contouring balm and a highlighting balm – cannot wait to use properly);
  • Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil – 30 ml –  £10 (a handy size for travelling with a pump applicator, I like using cleansing oils so look forward to trying);
  • The Vintage Company Blending Sponge £5.95 (a light pink sponge – very similar shape and texture to the beauty blender sponge, so intrigued to see how well it applies makeup and lasts);
  • Bellapierre Cosmetics Lipstick in ‘Envy’ – £20 – (I already have this lipstick in the same colour which I received in a different beauty box – however do not mind receiving another one as I love the consistency and colour, a beautiful creamy hydrating finish, a dark pink / burgundy colour which smells divine too – love this brand’s lip products and if you search online there are usually offers on); and
  • Bellapierre Gel waterproof gel lip liner in ‘Cinnamon’ £20 –  (never tried before, it is a dark plum / burgundy colour which matches the above lipstick v well and is long lasting as well)

I am v happy with the contents of this months box, excellent value for money as total value of products is £115.94 – (although I know if I search online I may be able to get a number of the products for cheaper than the recommended retail price, however still v good value for the £35 paid for this box).  I will use everything,  cannot wait to try all the products properly and I am over the moon that I have only tried one of the products before.   It is a beautiful ‘luxury’ treat for yourself or as a gift for someone else.

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know.  Also would love to know if you received this box too and what you thought of it?

Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector

image

I love lip products but had always found it difficult to get a lip gloss / lip tint that I loved as I found the majority were too sticky on my lips.  That was until I was looking through lip products online and discovered the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (£18.00), which are described as natural lip perfectors, enriched with shea butter extract for plumped, moisturised  lips, a softly textured lip gel with a deliciously sweet scent, which are sheer, but have enough colour to wear alone or to complement your favourite lip shade.

image

I liked the sound of this product but decided to wait to purchase until I got a chance to try the formula in-store.     I was very pleasantly surprised as when I tried the tester on my hand it was only very, very slightly sticky.   I found it difficult to decide which colour to purchase as there are eight shades and three limited edition shades but I finally chose 07 Toffee Pink Shimmer (shimmer not very noticeable more a sheen).

The lip perfector comes in a smooth tube packaging with screw top and sponge tip applicator.   The lip gel has a light sweet / vanilla type scent and the applicator makes it so easy to apply you just need to squeeze the tube slightly to get product to appear and then you  apply as normal to lips with applicator.   I was v impressed when I first applied it as there was none of the dreaded stickiness (not even the slightest) when you pressed your lips together, I loved the feeling on the lips,  so comfortable, I found / find it very moisturising / hydrating  (although I also use my Ultrasun lipbalm on a daily basis as well which helps primes my lips for any lip products) and loved the natural sheen and finish. The first time I had applied it I had lined my lips first but I now love it just worn alone or over lipstick to enhance the colour.

The colour is very natural but is also buildable, the only slight negative is it is not very long lasting, but this is not an issue for me personally as it so easy to apply any time anywhere.   I now love it so much, I carry it everywhere and now just need to decide what colours I am going to try next.    I definitely would recommend trying the tester when you a next near a Clarins counter as I am confident you will also be impressed with the formula / finish on the lips. I  have also included some online sites below where offers are available at the moment but as always shop around online or in store for best offers before purchasing – hope this helps.

  • Debenhams: – currently 10% off and free Clarins gift with two purchases one to be skincare until 07.08.16 or while stocks last and remember your beauty card points too;
  • Boots: –  10% of selected luxury items, online only, however if purchasing in store just ask if they have any samples that you can try and remember your advantage card points too;
  • Clarins: –  currently a choice of a number of offers available including a gift with purchase(s) of £50 or over and choice of three free samples with purchases.

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know.  Also would love to know if you have tried the lip perfector yet, if so, what do you think of it and what colours have you tried?

Benefit Ready Set Brow & Gimme Brow

Further to my earlier post on the new Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil – I was lucky enough to receive two more of the new Benefit’s brow products free with magazines this month (please see my August 2016 monthly magazine post for full details).   I now have had the chance to try these products properly,  so wanted to let you know my thoughts.

 benefitbrowlaunch2

I received the Benefit Ready Set Brow – 3.5 ml deluxe sample free with August 2016 edition of Marie Claire magazine – full size is £18.50 for 7.0ml.

I love the silver tone packaging, gel has a screw top and the applicator wand has  very short ‘bristles’ on one side and slightly longer bristles on the other – however the clear gel has a slight glue type fragrance not too overpowering but you can definitely smell it which was / is off-putting for me personally.  The product is described as an invisible shaping & setting gel which holds brow hairs in place & locks on makeup, has 24 hour staying power, is easy to apply and quick to dry.  You are advised to brush onto brows and it can be worn alone or to set other brow products.

image

I applied as advised both over a brow pencil / gel and alone and although I found it definitely held my brows in place both ways, I was aware I had the brow gel on as felt a slight tightening feeling, I have reduced amount I have applied since but I still am aware I have it on which I do not like – also I believe the wand/bristles could be improved slightly to make it easy to shape / define your brows, the ‘bristles’ I think would be better if they were slightly longer on both sides, just my personal opinion.   Therefore although I was happy / grateful to have got the chance to try this product for free and I will use it up I will not be rushing out to purchase this product, however I do still recommend trying to get a free sample so that you can test for yourself as the gel definitely did set my brows.

The second product I received free with the August 2016 edition of Glamour magazine was the Gimme Brow – Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel 1.0g sample in 5 – available in three colours 1 light, 3 medium & 5 deep and full size is £18.50.

Again love the packaging.  Described as an easy mess proof application that volumizes, tames & tints brows to define shape.   I applied as instructed. used the brush tip to define, shape and then brushed through my brows to blend and build colour.  Once again a screw top but with a soft brush applicator –  love the brush, perfect size for filling in any spaces or uneven brows  – I was v happy with results, my brows looked shaped, thicker and still natural looking and colour was perfect for me and although  I needed to apply few times to build colour up product glided on v smoothly and so easy to build up colour.

I also found that the product was long wearing, and although it has a slight ‘mascara’ type smell it is not overpowering so happy with that.    I have also found I do not need to apply a ‘setting’ gel over the top as my brows stayed / stay in place,  but if you want even more hold, you can.  I definitely intend to purchase again but as always will look out for the best offers available at the time – have included some online sites below where offers are available at the moment but as always shop around online or in store for best offers before purchasing – hope this helps.

  • Debenhams: – http://www.debenhams.com/ – currently 10% of Benefit Products and free gift of Benefit mini tar liner, mini Dew the Hoola and mini Air Patrol with 3 or more Benefit purchases and remember your beauty card points too;
  • Boots:http://www.boots.com/ – online only receive free Benefit Firm it Up eye serum sample when you buy two selected Benefit Products, however if purchasing in store just ask if they have any samples that you can try and remember your advantage card points too;
  • Benefit: – https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/uk/en-gb – £18.50 – currently a choice of a number of offers available including a skincare duo with £40 or over spend.

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know.  If you have tried the two products above would love to hear your thoughts.

ASOS Sale – Jewellery Purchases

Another one of my passions is fashion which includes all types of accessories, whether it is jewellery, bags (will leave these for another day) shoes, scarfs etc. so when I seen that there were further reductions in the ASOS sale had to take a look.  So when I seen the following jewellery pieces reduced, three of them caught my attention straight away, the fourth item I really ended up purchasing because of the fantastic reduction – details and my thoughts below:

image

First piece I fell in love with was the Pilgrim Statement Rose Gold Tone Necklace which had been £39.99 reduced to £18.00, a 55% discount.  I loved the unique style of this piece and felt it would bring that little extra to any outfit whether it was a shoulderless / sleeveless top or dress, an open neck top or a high neck top, so could not resist and ordered it and I am so happy now I did.

Love, love it even more now that I have received it, it is an absolutely stunning statement piece, beautiful on and such a versatile piece, detail is exquisite.  I  also love Pilgrim jewellery as I have always found it stays looking as good as new over time / does not tarnish.

image

The second and third items that stood out for me were the  Daisy London Jewellery collaboration with Laura Whitmore exclusive sterling silver necklace and earrings Plectrum set, although I had heard of the Daisy jewellery range before I had never purchased anything from this range.  I loved the length of the necklace and the option to wear it slightly shorter as well.  Necklace was £65.00 and was reduced to £31 less than half price and the matching earrings were £45.00 and reduced to £13.50 70% discount, so could not resist and ordered both as was the perfect opportunity to try the Daisy jewellery range.

I was so impressed when I received these items, even though they are lighter pieces of jewellery the quality is excellent and packaging beautiful. The closure on both the earrings and necklace is very secure and once again very versatile can be worn with most items of clothing – the necklace looks especially good with a high neck top.  Once again over the moon with these purchases.

image

The fourth and final piece I decided to purchase, the Pilgrim Marble Effect Necklace  did not really appeal to me initially and I only finally decided to purchase mainly because of  the good reduction £44.99 reduced to £16.00, although I did like the colour / marble effect stones and also because it was a Pilgrim piece.

This necklace definitely looked better when I actually received it and I will definitely wear it but I just do not love it as much as the other three items I purchased.  However the quality of the stones and the gold tone / design of the chain is very good and it is a substantial piece and has a secure toggle closure.    It does looks best worn with a summery flowy top or dress.

I hope you enjoyed my first post on ‘fashion’ – more to come very soon.  Would love to hear your thoughts /comments on the pieces I bought, any of them stand out for you?

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know.

Absolute New York Eyeshadow Primer

image

Although I love all makeup / beauty products I absolutely adore eye shadows and to ensure they look their absolute best you need the perfect eye primer.   I have tried many eye primers  in the past and found a number of them do not live up to their claims,  does not matter what brand of eyeshadow I used on top, my eyeshadow always creased.  Until approximately 18 months ago I had found that the eye shadow primers that performed the best for me were the Too Faced primers.  Then  I discovered the Absolute New York Eyeshadow Primer (Eyelid Primer Base), I was sceptical when I first saw it as had never heard of the brand (US brand) and because it was reasonably priced at £4.99 did not expect too much.  Oh my gosh was I surprised with the results.

The primer is described as an oil-free, ultra-creamy formula which evens skin tone around the eye area and keeps eyeshadow crease-free and colour-true for a lasting look.  It advises to apply a thin layer over eyelids and gently blend with fingers to create an even base which I did and I found the best way is to leave it to dry for a few minutes and make sure it is a smooth (a light tap with your fingertips if needed)  before applying your eyeshadow.    I was over the moon and still am with the results, my eyeshadow stayed / stays ALL DAY,  without the need to reapply and with no creasing at all.  I absolutely love this product as well as the price and would definitely recommend trying – only one big negative at the moment is that currently no retailers seem to stock it in the UK and currently Amazon only have it available to the UK at over £28!   –  I think I may have got the last two at £4.99.

However I have searched online and it appears that currently the best value available / that post to the UK are HB Beauty Bar (based in US) – on their site, the primer is $5.95 (currently if you use the code SIZZLING at checkout you get 15% discount and they do post to UK, cheapest postage is standard postage which costs $12.83 – takes between 7-21 days to arrive) – better value to buy two or more if you can.  Also remember to check on Amazon / online if you intend to purchase in case it is in stock again at £4.99/5.99.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know.  Also would love to know if you have tried this eyelid primer and what you think of it – do you find it as good as me?

My Little ‘Coconut’ Box – July 2016

image

I received my July My Little Box today  – it is a Parisian based monthly subscription box which costs £14.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month.    Each month My Little Box has a different theme and the box is always beautifully illustrated in line with that theme.

image

Included in this months box was the usual high quality glossy booklet, which I love reading, additional product information cards, the My  Little Box cloth drawstring bag (which contains the three to four beauty / skincare products usually three – one of which is a My Little Box item), usually two accessory items and a beautiful card that can be framed.  Included in this months box are:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

  • A Beautiful Passport Holder – Embossed with ‘Let’s Get Lost’ on the front and ‘My Little Box’ on the back – also comes in a gift envelope with a ribbon tie closure =£11; (perfect  as the pattern reminds you of holiday times)
  • A Stella & Dot Goldtone Bracelet – £18  – comes in a ‘Sunshine Suits You’ pink and cream drawer style gift box (beautiful bracelet with clasp closure and red tassel – perfect as I have a small wrist but may be a problem for those with a larger wrist size);
  • My Little Box Apres Soleil / Aftersun Spray- 100ml –  £10  – (it is a beautiful coconut scented body milk spray);
  • Yves Rocher Coconut Eau De Toilette – 20 ml – £7 (again going with the coconut theme- if you love coconut you will be happy this month  -a beautiful fresh summery coconut  fragrance – good handbag size);
  • Coco Rico Hand Cleansing Gel – 30 ml – 3 Euro – (a useful handbag size cleansing gel); and
  • A Ojon Rare Blend Oil Moisture Therapy 2ml Sample– it is a 5 in 1 replenishing care for parched , dry hair – it is £30 for 45 ml (nice sample to be included – card advises that just one drop helps hydrate, smooth ends, soften strands, boost shine and reduce Frizz – I did apply one drop and although felt nice on my hair not greasy and appeared to tame some stray hairs too early to say how good this oil actually is)

I enjoy receiving My Little Box because it not only contains beauty / skincare products but  also a variety of accessories e.g.  included in past boxes have been a scarf, gloves, diary, cup, bangle,  etc.  I also  love the box designs / illustrations which are always exquisite.  Although I am v happy with the contents of this months box, which I think are v good and excellent value for money and I will use everything, in my opinion it is not quite as good as last months box which I loved, think the one makeup item sealed it for me – I have inserted a photo below of what I received in last month’s box.  I am hoping I will receive more makeup up items in future boxes as recently there has been a lot of skincare items included.   I would definitely recommend subscribing to this box as it is gives you something slightly different / contains a variety of items and is a lovely surprise each month.

Thank you for looking – any queries / comments please let me know and if you would like a separate review on any of the above products just let me know.

Chanel Dimensions De Chanel Mascara – 10 Noir

P190410

I wear mascara most days, one of my essential makeup items, and love it when I get the opportunity to try a mascara for free, it is the perfect way to see if you like it without having to buy the full size.   Recently there were Chanel and MAC mascara samples available to claim free online through Facebook/ notifications  – although they  are now all gone online you could still ask at the Chanel and MAC counters to see if they have any samples left that you could try – also if you currently  purchase any MAC items online you have option to choose a  free sample which includes mascara samples – also ask in store too they may have samples available there as well with purchase.   (Remember if you sign up through online freebie sites e.g. LatestFreeStuff, Magic Freebies – other freebie sites available too just search online – you will get early / daily notifications of what freebies are available and the earliest you claim the more chance you have of getting freebies before they are gone – I also intend to do a weekly freebie post starting from this Sunday 17th July, freebies I have claimed for and received during that week)

I received the Chanel Dimensions 1ml mascara sample in 10 Noir / black – it arrived in beautiful outer packaging as you can see from photos above  – very impressed but then would expect nothing less from Chanel.   I found the brush the perfect size to apply the mascara, even on my lower lashes, a strong black colour and even with one coat you could notice the difference straight away, left my lashes long and luscious, dried quickly with no flakiness / fall out / smudginess throughout the day and also did not irritate my eyes.  Even after a long day at work although my eyes look tired my lashes look as good when I first applied the mascara in the morning.

The full size retails for £25 (expensive compared to some other brands) currently £22.50 in Debenhams, I would definitely recommend it, although try to get a sample first to see if you like it as much as me.  I intend to purchase the full size in either Boots or Debenhams with my advantage card / beauty club card points once I get a chance to try / use the other free mascara samples  I have been lucky enough to have received from other brands, including the one from MAC mentioned above (will do a short post on it too once I get a chance to try it properly).

Thank you for looking – if you have any comments / queries please let me know.  Would love to know if you received this sample or have already tried this mascara and what you think of it – do you like it as much as I do?
