Review: Feelunique Pick ‘N’ Mix – Sept 2018

Hi Everyone

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Wanted to let you see what I chose for my latest Feelunique’s Pick ‘N’ Mix  selection. Most of the items I got are now out of stock but always keep checking as some may come back into stock again.

As advised previously you can choose five ‘free’ samples from a selection of samples available while stocks last (one selection of samples per month) – you are charged £3.95 for shipping and handling fees although you can redeem this against any future order  (excluding Pick ‘n’ Mix) via a £3.95 gift voucher you receive in your follow-up email.

This ‘service’ is so good because as well as being excellent value, great way to try different brands / products you are not ‘tied’ into a subscription i.e. you do not need to make a selection each month, only when you see items you like, want to try.

This month I was delighted to see / get the following five samples:

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (40ml x 2 – worth approx £9 each) (full size is 75ml RRP £18.50) – I chose two; the original and the pomegranate & cassis fragrance – I was pleasantly surprised and over the moon to see the size of the samples – they are deluxe sample sizes. I was delighted to see these both in the item selection as love, love this product. It is a pre shampoo treatment cream.  Best results when you use regularly and you are advised to wet hair apply in sections, work into hair with fingertips, cover with plastic cap (I use a tight towel wrap), leave for 10-20 minutes before washing off styling – for an intensive treatment you can apply to damp hair overnight and wash off in morning.   I do use both ways and both work well but my favourite way to apply is as an overnight treatment – your hair just needs to be slightly damp and then I apply to the whole of my hair – when you wash off in morning your hair is silky smooth, no nasty residue and your hairstyle seems to last even longer throughout the day, although I do still use my normal finishing oils sprays with it as well.  I love the pomegranate & cassis fragrance one now, it smells divine but not too overpowering.  Although quite expensive, I feel results are worth it, but as always check where best offer is on prior to purchasing.  Have already purchased full size as these two are in my travel bag already for my forthcoming trip.  Highly recommend trying if you can if you havent already.

Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lipgloss (1ml) (full size 7ml RRP £15.00)– another quite generous deluxe sample.  I received the shade ‘naked’, a light pink with a slight glimmer.    When you swatch on your hand it does seem quite tacky but then on the lips it is ok, a v slight sticky feeling, but still comfortable,  However there is a strong mint fragrance like an ‘aftereight’ and when you apply there is a slight tingling, warming sensation, it does go away but takes a while.  I will use but not sure if I would purchase because of the feeling and the strong fragrance/taste, as was ok with it at the beginning but it now feels a little bit sickening at times.  Worth checking out though to see for yourself especially if you love a gloss finish as does work well over lipsticks.  Still available in selection at time of posting.

Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide Lipsticks Sample Trio (3 little samples in a card with a brush applicator – full size is 3ml RRP £28)- I havent used yet and although only small samples there are three shades to try – the little applicator is cute too.    The full size packaging is gorgeous though as with all Givenchy lip products.

Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation (6 swatches on a card) (full size is 30ml RRP £29.50)- I chose this just to see what the foundation was like but although nice to get six shades to ‘sample’ they are that small not really enough for you to see if this foundation is for you – better  if they only give eg. 3 shades but bigger samples. However I intend to try one of the shades properly in store, not sure for me though as prefer a slightly dewy finish and think this may also make my pores more visible. Still available in selection at time of posting.

Happy with my selection this month, especially as I managed to get 2 deluxe samples of one my favourite hair care treatments, would have been happy to get even 1 of these for £3.95.  Might not be my favourite selection to date, but close, as adored my July selection (see link to it here, which will be hard to beat).  As always I will continue to use the Pick ‘N’ Mix as and when I see samples I want to try or already love. Remember the more generous sample sizes / make up samples  go quickly but as long as you regularly look through the sample choice you should always see something you want to try.

As always I highly recommend trying this ‘service’ for yourself as a great way to try products for ‘free’ prior to purchasing especially if you make a future purchase through Feelunique to enable you to redeem your £3.95 gift voucher (the charge for shipping & handling fees) (if new to Feelunique you can use my code here to get 20% off your first order with a £5 minimum spend).

Look forward to any comments you may have – would love to hear if you have used the Pick ‘N’ Mix service already, what you thought of it?

If not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too (my * instagram link is below as well if you would like to follow me there too) – would mean a lot.  Will have more posts up soon.

Thank you – take care and hope you all have a great week.

Latest in Beauty 10 Year Anniversary ICONS Beauty Box

Hi Everyone

The Latest in Beauty new collection beauty box  is now available to purchase while stocks last – hard to believe it is 10 years but this is the LatestinBeauty 10 Year Anniversary ICONS Beauty Box costs £50 (plus £3.95 p&p) but is worth £238 and is a one-off purchase, so no subscription required (stated on their earlier update that as a thank you for our support over the years, LiB are offering us 10% OFF the ICONS box when we use the code ICON5 at checkout- ).   There are a good selection of brands, high quality items included and it is good value as well.

ICONS 1O YEAR ANNIVERSARY EDITION BEAUTY BOX

LIB_ICONS_SITE_BOX_1.jpg

The following 13 items are included in the box:

  • OMOROVICZA Illuminating Moisturiser – 30ml;
  • MASQD Blusher Brush;
  • BRINKBROWBAR Intense Kayal Eyeliner;
  • OPI Got Myself Into A Jam-Balaya;
  • COLOUR WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray;
  • SMASHBOX Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Primer;
  • STARSKIN The Master Cleanser Detoxing Sea Kelp Leaf Face Mask;
  • STARSKIN Dreamkiss Plumping and Hydrating Bio-Cellulose Lip Mask;
  • RODIAL XXL Lip Liner in Nude;
  • PAULA’S CHOICE Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment;
  • PHILIP KINGSLEY Coconut Breeze Elasticizer;
  • DR DENNIS GROSS Alpha Beta Universal Peels;
  • EVE LOM Cleansing Balm & Cloth.

Good selection of brands / products, mix of full sizes and deluxe sample sizes included in this box, a number of which I have not tried yet which is great but resisting at the moment as I just have so many products to use up first.

I definitely would recommend checking out this box and the other LatestinBeauty box options (site down for a while earlier because of this, so may still be slow, keep trying if you really want one as think they will go FAST though). The other collection boxes are good value as well and all the boxes would be perfect as beautiful pampering treats for yourself or as gifts as well.  As I have said before could also separate contents of box into a number of smaller gifts as well.

Latest in Beauty also have a monthly beauty subscription ‘Build Your Own Box’ which you can sign up to as well and is worth checking out – you can see my earlier post here for more details.   There are a mixture of full size and travel size beauty products you can select from.  As you would expect some products, especially full size items, sell out pretty quickly, however selection of products is updated / refreshed on a regular basis. In addition when you sign up in August you will also get 2 FREE gifts while stocks last; Palmers SPF Lip Balm and a Ciate Liquid Eye Liner.

Hope you found this helpful and would love to hear your thoughts if you have, or are thinking of purchasing this or any other of the current ‘collection’ boxes.

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Thank you – take care.

Best Wishes Liz x

Review: Feelunique Pick ‘N’ Mix July 2018

Hi Everyone

I received my latest Feelunique’s Pick ‘N’ Mix  selection last week.  It has been a while since I got a  Feelunique’s Pick ‘N’ Mix  selection as although love the service and think it is great value, perfect way to try different brands / products, as I have a lot of products to use up, did not see any items that really excited me until this month.

As I have said a number of times before  one of the reasons I love this ‘service’ so much is you are not ‘tied’ into a subscription i.e. you do not need to make a selection each month, only when you see items you like, want to try.

This month I was delighted to see / get the following five samples:

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (1.4ml ) (full size is 6ml RRP £24)– I was so surprised and over the moon to see the size of the sample – it is a deluxe sample size.  Although only one shade available Custard Medium 1 when I seen it, understand it was also available in the Vanilla shade as well.  It does feel lovely and creamy and blends well, a bit dark for underneath my eyes but is workable, though does cover slight blemishes well, does not completely cover them but definitely makes them less noticeable.  I may consider purchasing the full size but not sure at this stage if really any better than my ‘Note’ or ‘Sephora’ creamy concealers which are more reasonably priced.  However delighted to get the opportunity to try and will check out the lighter shade in store as well.  All gone but may still come back into selection;

YSL Waterproof Black Eye Pencil (0.8g) (full size 1.2g RRP £24 currently reduced to £17.85 states holographic black so may be slightly different)– another v generous deluxe sample.  If you have been following me for a while you will know I love eyeliners so when I seen this in the selection was so happy.   It is so creamy, so easy to apply, no dragging,  is a true dark black and does last really well too.  You can smudge it at the beginning but you need to be quick as dries v quickly.  This is my favourite item out of the selection and although this will last me ages definitely am considering purchasing the full size as so impressed and may also get the blue in it as well as love the shade;

One quick swatch

Ren Skincare & Now to Sleep Pillow Spray (10ml) (full size is 75ml RRP £18 currently reduced to £12.60)- Never tried this before and as I am not a great sleeper at times love trying products like this to see if they help.  I have tried it once and although smells nice not sure if it really worked, need to try for a longer period of time to confirm, though happy I was able to get the opportunity to try.  Still available in the Pick ‘N’ Mix selection at time of posting.

Elizabeth Arden City Smart Hydrating Shield SPF 50 (5ml tube) (full size is 40ml RRP £55 currently reduced to £46.75)- I already like this product and if you have never used it before it is like a creamy gel consistency with a slight tint, you use it as the last step in your skincare routine.  I often use as tinted moisturiser with a little bit of concealer over the top if not going out.  Feels lovely on the skin as well – would definitely recommend trying if you havent already.  Perfect size for travelling, weekend away;

Living Proof Style Lab Instant Texture Mist (15ml spray) (full size 50ml RRP £14) –  this is another good sample size.  Already love Living Proof products and this smells as good as the rest I have tried.  I have used few times on both dry and wet hair and does seem to help give that beach/ tousled look, does leave you hair smelling amazing as well.   Initial impressions good and may consider purchasing in the future but have a number of similar hair products to use up so may be a while.  Still available in Pick ‘N’ Mix selection at time of posting.

So, so pleased with my selection this month, a good variety of brands, generous sample sizes, perfect way to discover new products – think my favourite selection to date although have always been happy with my selections.  I will definitely continue to use the Pick ‘N’ Mix as and when I see samples I want to try or already love.

If not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  Will have more posts up v soon.

Thank you – take care and enjoy the remainder of the weekend.

Review: Birchbox UK July 2018

Hi Everyone

I received my July Birchbox yesterday and theme of this month’s box is ‘Say Yes to Adventure‘.

Although the box design is still cute this month just not as excited as normal as the tin storage box was so impressive last month.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box which costs £12.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.  Usually five personalised beauty treats are included each month.

This month every box contains a Full Size Mannakadar Beauty Long Wear Powder, subscribers were / are able to choose either Paradise or Trifecta  (I chose Paradise), a product  / beauty information booklet and the following four products:

MannaKadar Long Wear Powder – ‘Paradise’ Full Size RRP £15  this is a beautiful rosey pink shade,  with a hint of glimmer.  Does apply well with good pigmentation and although I prefer a matt blusher it does look lovely on, natural looking and shimmer not too noticeable as long as you do not apply too much.  Only used it for a day so cannot really say how long-lasting it really is but when I try for a longer period of time, if  impressed will post a separate review .

Lipcote & Co Browcote Waterproof Brow Gel- (Full Size)  RRP £6.99  – another full size item which is great.  However I am not a fan as this product has a strong smell which I dislike.  I still have tried it once and although does hold brows well I know I am ‘wearing’ it which I do not like either and as the fragrance is just too much for me unfortunately will not be reusing.

What’s in it for me…? Shower Scrub (Sample size 50ml) Full Size is 200ml RRP £7I had never heard of this brand before but do love body scrubs so happy to see this included. The almond oil helps the light granules to glide on your skin and then once you rinse it off it leaves your skin feeling so smooth, hydrated and lightly fragranced.    Although only used once, so impressed with initial results may go on and purchase full size as quite reasonably priced at £7 for 200ml.

img_6370

If you subscribe during July you will get a FREE Lord & Berry highlighter stick (worth £15) with your first Birchbox, while stocks last.  You just need to use the code GLOWING at checkout.

Or just in case you prefer money off your box (do not think you can use both) you can get £5 off your first box – (box is normally £10 +£2.95 shipping – you will get for £5 +£2.95 shipping) by clicking  link here and then copy and paste code at checkout to get your discount.    Thank you in advance if you use this link.

Look forward to any comments you may have – if you have received this month’s box would love to know what you thought, did you receive the same products as me in your box?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  Will have more posts up before the end of the week.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Thank you & take care.

Review: Moi-Même ‘Spring’ 2018 Box & Subscription

Although I received my Spring 2018 ‘Nature’ Moi-Même box a while back, my third box, I wanted to let you see what was in it as it will be time for the Summer 2018 box v soon. The  Moi-Même box is a UK ‘seasonal’ box (4 boxes per year) which costs £45 approx per box  (annual subscription) or £49.95 (quarterly subscription), however this is increasing to £50 (approx) and £54.95 respectively from 1st July 2018. Box contains a variety of items (could be clothing, accessories, stationery, skincare, jewellery, homeware, makeup etc. – subscribers may get different colours / designs in different items). Delivery is free for our UK subscribers and costs £14.95 per box for the rest of the world. (full details on subscription(s) / shipping and proposed increase in price can be found at moi-même.co.uk.

As I am not subscribed currently to as many beauty boxes (taken a break from a lot as so many beauty products to use up).  I really enjoy receiving the Moi-Même box as it is much more than a beauty box, contains a range of different items.

Products come wrapped in tissue paper in a white large magnetic closure box with a personalised sticker on the inner lid.  There are at least five full size items and usually an information booklet included as well but none in my Spring box.

 img_7921

Included within the Spring box were the following items (photos below):

The Chilly’s Bottle 500ml (RRP £25) I received the Wild Floral Edition design which I love and it came in a matching protective hard cardboard outer case which is perfect. I was delighted to see this included as well as looking gorgeous such a useful product.  The Chilly’s Bottle is a revolutionary reusable bottle that can keep water ice-cold for 24 hours. States keeps hot as well for 12 hours (not tried this yet), is leak proof, not affected by outside temperatures.  I take this with me on a daily basis and it does keep water really cold I also use it for diluted still drinks as well and is perfect.  Although I haven’t as yet, I intend to buy a few more bottles as gifts as well, available in so many different colours, designs – love it so much;

M.S.H Scarf (RRP £12) – I received the off white shade with rose gold detail.  Another lovely product, light weight perfect in any weather.   Another product I was delighted to see included this month.

Blonde and Stone Marble Coaster Stand =  (Set of 4 RRP £25) – definitely a quality small stand, love the design and also perfect to using when taking photos of small items as well.  May not be as an exciting addition as other items but still happy to see included as will use.

Siskyn Skincare Oils Organic Rose & Neroli Day Facial Oil (30ml) RRP £42 States is suitable for all skin types but specifically more mature drier skin and gentle enough for the delicate eye area too.  Even though has a rose fragrance, the aroma is not too strong thankfully, so think I will use but havent used yet as already trying a few different oils – however when I try properly, if I think results impressive will post a separate review.

I am Balanced Smokey Quartz Crystal Mist (100ml) RRP £24.50 – This is another reason why I enjoy receiving the box as usually receive number of items you may not have heard of tried before and this is another one of them.  States: Uplifting orange blossom and balancing geranium combine with the healing powers of aloe vera to balance and restore skin’s natural oil balance. Charged with smokey quartz, the ultimate bad vibe cleansing stone, this crystal mist is the perfect energetic pick-me-up for when the clouds just won’t lift or your skin feels a little bleak.  Sounds good doesn’t it?   It has a light ‘spa’ type fragrance and a quite light mist.  I have used as a pre cleanse, primer, to set makeup and throughout the day as a refreshing mist and it does seem to help as refreshing toning mist, just not sure how good it is yet as a primer or to set makeup as not tried for a long enough period yet but do enjoy using it throughout the day, only issue  is it is quite heavy to carry with you in your bag.  Although will keep using not sure I would purchase as not noticed any additional benefits yet, don’t think as good as my normal refreshing mists which are more reasonably prices and handier for your bag as well.

We also received a Packet of Wildflower Seeds as well which was a nice touch.

Review: Birchbox UK June 2018

Hi Everyone

Although  I only received my June Birchbox today, I am so impressed that I wanted to show you what I received as soon as possible in case you wanted to get one too as only available while stocks last. Theme of this month’s box is ‘The Tea Party’.  Birchbox were 5 years in the UK last month, their 5th Birthday, so hard to believe as I have been with them since nearly the beginning.

Love the addition of the special keepsake biscuit patterned tin box this month – I think would be perfect for storing so much more e.g. perfume samples, any beauty samples, small crayons/colouring pencils etc – whatever you want really.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box which costs £12.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.  Usually five personalised beauty treats are included each month.

This month every box contains a Full Size Ella Eden Eyeshadow- subscribers were able to choose from two shades, Faith or Julia (I chose Julia).   A product  / beauty information booklet and the following five products & bonus item were also included in my box:

Ella Eden London Compact Eyeshadow – ‘Julia’ Full Size RRP £12.99  this is a beautiful pinky / peach colour and although a powder formula it has a creamy feel with a satin finish. Although buildable it is a lighter shade, I have just used it once and it applies very easily and looks beautiful as a transition shade, although also would look good all over the eyelid, just under the eyebrow, inner corners of the eyes.  I also have tried as a highligher too and looks good used that way as well.   Initial thoughts are I definitely will use and happy with my choice, however not sure how long-lasting it will be – if I find it lasts well when I try for a longer period of time, will post a separate review.

Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm (Berry Busy)– (Full Size)  RRP £11  – another full size item, we are getting spoiled this month.  As it is a colour enhancing balm it may look slightly different on everyone.  On me it  is a beautiful rosy pink colour.  It applies really easily, feels comfortable –  again not sure how long it lasts but at this stage still on my lips, looks like a lip stain now.    I will also definitely use and already have in my everyday makeup bag.  Not sure if I would pay the RRP price however if on offer would consider purchasing.

Number 4 Jour d’automne Smoothing Balm (Sample size 30ml) Full Size is 150ml RRP £24.50 – I was happy to see this in my box as have tried products from this brand before and enjoyed using them and results were good.  It is a creamy smoothing balm and smells beautiful, you are supposed to apply to damp hair but I applied a little to my finished style and it did smooth the flyaways and didn’t leave my hair looking greasy,  I will use both ways and post a full review when I get a chance to try properly.  Although this is only a sample size do not mind, as think will last for a while and perfect size for travelling.

If you subscribe during June you will get a FREE Smith & Cult lip lacquer (worth £21) with your first Birchbox, while stocks last.  You just need to use the code KISSES at checkout.

Look forward to any comments you may have – if you have received this month’s box would love to know what you thought, did you receive the same products as me in your box/’tin’?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  Will have more posts up during and / or end of the week.

Hope you have a really enjoyable week.

Thank you & take care.

Best Wishes Liz x

I love there is a mix of makeup, skin/hair products and although sample sizes they are quite generous ones so perfect for taking with you on you holidays, travelling – I adore travel sizes of products as well.

I definitely would recommend checking out this beauty kit and others that Net-A-Porter.com currently have available – although this is one of the more expensive kits it does have a number of high value items included.

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  I will have more posts up tomorrow and beginning of next week.

Thank you – take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Review: Love Me Beauty Phase Zero Makeup – Metal Veil / Coconut Liquid Eyeshadows

Hi Everyone

I was delighted to kindly receive my latest *Love Me Beauty / Phase Zero Makeup  products early last week (you can see my first review via the link here).   This month I received eight liquid eyeshadows to try a mix of the Metal Veil and Coconut eyeshadows. If you have been following me for a while you will know I love eyeshadows so v happy to receive the Phase Zero makeup liquid versions to try as well.

Love Me Beauty / Phase Zero Makeup Service

Firstly you need to sign up – 1 month membership is £5 but states minimum contract is 3 months.  Then after you become a LMB member you will gain access to LMB factory prices,  LMB advised this will save us 77%.   You can buy the ‘Phase Zero’ products without a membership but works out a lot more expensive this way especially if you are purchasing a number of items. However  Love Me Beauty has made some changes and NEW users can now get 90 days membership completely free AND you can also use my code (LIZC5) at checkout to get £5 off your first order (not including P&P and you must spend £5 or more), so a good time to try this range if you can.

I received the following 8 shades (members price £4.00 each RRP £12.50 each);  – as previous months, all came in a heavier see through / silver resealable packet in an outer cardboard box as well.

When I opened the package again first impressions were v good as always happy to see items individually boxed and liked the selection of colours included, some neutral shades,  with a few ‘stand out colours’ as well. The ‘Coconut’ Eyeshadows have a more liquid creamy formula and the ‘Metal Veil’ eyeshadows have a thicker consistency but still creamy.   No matt shades again but I personally prefer more a sheen finish with liquid eyeshadows.

 Swatches below:

Do like all these shades but the ‘White Rabbit’ shade is a Metal Veil eyeshadow and has a bit more shimmer, so would really only use under the brow bone or inner corner of the eye as just does not apply as well as the other shades.

If I had to select only four shades; my favourites would have to be Merlot, Valentines, Romance and Fancy – look really good on and work with so many other colours as well.

V happy to be *gifted these to try.   I found pigmentation and coverage was good, applied easily, only v slight transfer until they dried, no smudging, satin/metallic type finish and all lasted well throughout the day again when I wore as normal with my eyeshadow primer and Mac Shroom eyeshadow underneath.  Again good selection of base, transition/contour and all over shades.  Few of the shades had a more shimmery finish but majority had a lovely sheen type finish – see swatches above.  I prefer the consistency of the coconut eyeshadows, a more creamy liquid finish,  as I found these applied more easily, though this consistency also took longer to dry.    Although I kindly received these for review consideration I would definitely consider purchasing a number of these and other shades in the range as they are reasonably priced at only £4 each.

I would definitely recommend checking out the LMB service / Phase Zero Makeup range as I personally think quality is good and is also more reasonably priced than some other makeup ranges and especially as NEW members now get a 90 day FREE membership.  You can find out even more about the LMB subscription service here.

Look forward to any comments you may have – love to know what you think about the LMB  service / Phase Zero Makeup range or if you have signed up to this new service already?

Thank you – enjoy the rest of the week and take care.

Best Wishes Liz x
