Glossybox UK – July 2017 Edit Review

Hi Everyone

img_4592-1

I received a few of my beauty boxes last week including the ‘Hello Summer’ edition July Glossybox.   As always although I  have not got a chance yet to try all the products properly, just wanted to let you know my first impressions.  Glossybox is a  monthly beauty subscription box which costs £10.00 (plus p&p) per month (usually offers on when you sign up for your first box – You can sign up through my referral link here  if you want (thank you in advance if you do) and currently you can get 50% off your first box when you subscribe and a free beauty treat as well – this current offer valid until 30.07.17 or while stocks last) and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.

Five personalised beauty products are included each month which are normally sent wrapped in pink tissue paper with a black bow in the signature pink Glossybox, however as this month was a ‘Hello Summer’ edit, box is a beautiful coral/orange colour with matching tissue paper- adore the colour scheme this month.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder – FULL Size 4g RRP £25 – I love a number of Bellapierre products already, especially their lipsticks and delighted this is a full size item as well.  I think this is a brand that may not be given enough credit for their products so looking forward to trying this finishing powder – initial thoughts are it does feel soft and velvety on the skin.  Will post a separate review if impressed with results;

Spectrum Collections Small Fan BrushFull Size £4.99 – Another full size item and my favourite item in the box as adore spectrum brushes.  Beautiful colour schemes and also very reasonably priced. All their brushes I have tried to date are great quality.  Delighted this particular brush was included as was intending to get a fan brush anyway as had none in my collection.   I know spectrum brushes have been included in a number of beauty boxes recently and another one to be included in next months Birchbox – please see my post here for more details – however I personally do not mind as great way to add to my brush collection;

Macaroon Tint Balm in Crushed BerryFULL Size RRP £5.99 – Another Full Size item, we are being spoiled this month.  Design very cute and does smell so good as well.  It is a great product to carry in your handbag as it is for cheeks and lips, so handy for holidays as well;

Alfaparf Milano Cristalli Liquidi Instant Illuminating Serum Review

Hi Everyone

As you may know by now I love attending beauty / fashion events because as well as picking up useful tips, meeting fellow beauty / fashion enthusiasts  you usually also kindly receive a goodie bag packed full of beautiful products to try.     One such product I was lucky enough to receive in the Irish Beauty Bloggers Blog Awards 2017  goodie bag (photo of goodie bag at bottom of this post) was a  generous *30ml  ‘Alfaparf Milano Diamond Cristalli Liquidi Instant Luminating Serum’ RRP £18.95.  Alfaparf Milano is an Italian brand which you can learn more about here.

I had never heard of the brand before so was excited to try, as go through so many hair products with washing / styling my hair every day so always on the look out for great products.

Size / Packaging

It states you can purchase the ‘Alfaparf Milan Cristalli Liquidi Instant Luminating Serum’ in three sizes, 16, 30 and 50ml – it comes in a beautiful sleek glass bottle with pump applicator, which I prefer.

Description

States is FREE from sulphate & unfriendly ingredients and is ‘an instant luminating serum for all hair types; a precious beauty fluid that leaves hair immediately shiny silky-soft and manageable.  Protects the hair fiber from external aggressions by creating a light and elastic film that is anti-humidity and anti dryness making the product suitable for all climates.  Results visible from the very first application.

Application and Results

The serum is a golden colour with oily serum consistency.  There is a quite strong smell of it, hard to actually describe the fragrance but smells more like a perfume fragrance to me which I quite like but may be slightly off-putting to some, however not as strong when you apply / dry your hair.    You are advised to ‘squeeze a few drops of the product onto the hands.  Then apply to damp or dry hair and process with styling’.    I applied one pump to my long fine damp hair before brushing and found it left my hair so much easier to brush through, not as many tangles.  I then dried / styled as normal and was / am  so impressed  with the results, you need so little product and leaves my hair soft, looking more sleek, glossy and healthy.    I also apply a small amount to the lengths and ends of my hair after styling and any time throughout the day, if needed, to help with humidity / weather conditions, perfect for taming any frizziness, dry ends.    Does not leave my hair feeling or looking greasy, actually feels that you do not have any product in your hair.  However one tip is if you apply to damp hair before brushing and have a fringe do not use same brush to dry your fringe as the residue of the product on the brush may leave your fringe looking slightly greasy.

I also find that your hair feels softer and more manageable the next day as well, better than with any other styling products I have used.  I will definitely be purchasing this product and may even get the smaller size as well to take with me in my bag.  I also intend checking out other products in the range, expectations are high now. If you have never heard of this product or got round to trying it yet I  would  definitely recommend trying it for yourself as think you will love it as well.

You can purchase from a number of stores / online sites and have included one below which currently has the following reductions.

If you have tried the ‘Alfaparf Milan Cristalli Liquidi Instant Luminating Serum’ before would love to know your thoughts, do you like it as much as me?

Jo Browne Ireland-Natural Solid Perfume

Hi Everyone

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend.

I wanted to do a quick post / review on a beautiful product I  v kindly received from Jo Browne a short time ago,  a *Jo Browne Ireland Natural Solid Perfume (24 Euro) – a natural solid perfume with organic beeswax.

Joanne Browne, is the founder and creator of Jo Browne Natural Solid perfume and you can learn more about Joanne, background on this product, her range of fragrances, stockists via the link here.

Range:

There are currently five fragrance notes to purchase in the range, three female; floral, oriental and sweet note and two male; oriental and woody note.  I kindly received the Floral note fragrance which is a combination of lemongrass-wild jasmine with organic Beeswax.

Packaging

The Jo Browne Ireland Natural Solid Perfume is a twist up solid perfume which comes in a beautifully embossed tube with push on cap.   JB logo and details are lazered onto the tube which I love.  In addition mine came in an outer light bamboo gift packaging (see photos below) – states on the Jo Browne site ‘Free Gift Bamboo tube with every perfume purchase before xmas’.

gift-tube-180x180

Fragrance / Results

Floral note is a  beautiful natural fresh uplifting ‘happy’ fragrance, but not overpowering which I love, so easy to apply, might drag a bit when you first apply but I find if you have applied a non fragrance natural moisturiser a short time before, let dry and then apply this helps.  This is the perfect perfume for your handbag & travelling as no worry about spillage, breakage and I just adore the packaging as well as it is so unique and beautiful.   However you may find smell does not last as long as some fragrances however this is not a problem for me as it is so easy to apply again, as and when you need to.

Stockists:

You can currently purchase online at Jo Browne.com as well as at a number of different stores  (seen on facebook was also to have launched in the Avoca Belfast store last week so need to check this out this week).  I am sure it will not be long till even more stores are stocking this range as it is such a beautiful, natural product.  Also currently to celebrate that the Jo Browne company is now one year old when you enter code ‘OneYear’ online at Jo Browne.com you will receive 20% discount – think valid until 18.07.17.

I will definitely we checking out the other fragrances and highly recommend checking them out for yourselves as such a stunning product, perfect for yourself or as beautiful gifts.  Love the way all the details are lazered on the packaging which makes it also the perfect gift if you are on  holidays here and want to take gifts from Ireland home as when the perfume is finished still a beautiful momento of your holidays to keep.

Not sure of Joanne has thought about this but I think it would also be lovely if you could just purchase refills, not sure if viable but think it would be perfect if it was.

Thank you again Joanne (Jo Browne.com) for giving me the opportunity to try your beautiful product – I am definitely a fan now.

Look forward to any comments you may have.   Have you tried this product already, and if so, do you love it as much as me.  If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Thank you – take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Best Wishes Liz x

Birchbox UK-July 2017-First Impressions

Hi Everyone

I received my July Birchbox last Thursday and although have not got a chance yet to try products properly have tried them all at least once so wanted to give you my first impressions on each product and my thoughts on this month’s box.   This month’s theme is ‘Summer Daze’ – Love the design of the drawer style box, which also fits perfectly with this month’s theme, a few months ago subscribers were asked to choose from a number of designs and this design was chosen as the favourite.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box which costs £12.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.  Usually five personalised beauty treats are included each month, although this month we got six items.

This month every subscriber either received a Benefit Lip & Cheek Stain and a Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water – both sample size items, an information card, and four additional products  based on your profile.  There usually is also a product  / beauty information booklet however this month mine is missing.   The following six products were in my box:

Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water  (Sample Size 30ml) Full Size RRP £16.00 for 180ml I do like micellar cleansing waters especially Bioderma and thought this one sounded good but unfortunately when I opened it the fragrance put me off straight away but I did try it once to give it a chance and although it did remove my makeup, unfortunately I did not like the feel of my skin afterwards, felt it had been ‘stripped’ rather than being cleansed/refreshed, so unfortunately not a product for me personally;

img_4583

img_4584

Rituals ‘Ritual of Hammam’ Refreshing Foaming Shower Gel   Full ‘travel size’ 50ml RRP £4.50 – Used a number of products from this brand in the past and have tried other fragrances in their shower gels which I have enjoyed.   It has a gel consistency which when you rub turns into a cleansing foam and then when you apply water leaves your skin  clean, fragranced and soft.  This fragrance is not my favourite but will still use it and happy to see it included in my box;

img_4581

Nanette Lepore Fragrance Small Sample Vial 2ml Full Size £55 for 50 ml – as this is a sixth item, like a bonus item,  not as disappointed but I do not normally like beauty boxes including small fragrance samples as one of their ‘main’ items unless a good size / deluxe sample, particularly as fragrance is so personal.  This particular fragrance has a v strong overpowering scent so unfortunately just not for me but will pass to a friend to see if they like it any better.

img_4587

Overall though this months box is still good enough value and love the design of the box, a bit disappointed as personally will not be using two of the items.   However as I always say this is what beauty boxes are all about and if you love all the items that is an added bonus.  Although I have so many subscriptions at the moment I will still keep subscribed to Birchbox as it was one of my first subscriptions and although recently there have been more sample sizes included within their boxes still good value for money and also love the sneak peek of one of next months products (see photo below).

 *SPOILER* August Sneak Peek – states that everyone will receive a ‘Full Size Spectrum Collections Make-Up Brush’ in their August Birchbox – need to keep an eye on our in-boxes (if subscribed) to choose which oneSpectrum brushes have been in a number of beauty boxes recently which I do not mind as the quality is so good – this is another reason which will keep me subscribed for the August box.

If you are thinking of  subscribing to Birchbox UK – you can get £5 off your first box -(box is normally £10 +£2.95 shipping – you will get for £5 +£2.95 shipping) by clicking  link here and then copy and paste code at checkout to get your discount.    You can also receive a FREE Benefit mascara trio (*photo below) when you join Birchbox today to get your July box,  just add the code WINK at checkout to get free Trio.

Look forward to any comments you may have – if you have received this month’s box would love to know what you thought.

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Thank you – enjoy the rest of the weekend and take care.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Perfect ‘Multi-task Cream’

Hi Everyone

With ongoing launches of different moisturising creams/lotions, primers I wanted to let you know of a multi-tasking milk-cream/lotion that I keep going back to, a cream I always have in my skincare collection – the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré  – a French brand ‘The Embryolisse story began in 1950s, when a Paris hospital dermatologist specializing in skin diseases created the legendary Milk-Cream Concentrate, sold millions worldwide. A physician who desired to create his own pharmaceutical skin care brand that met the expectations and acceptance of his profession’ – you can find more out about the brand via the link here.

Size / Packaging

You can purchase the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré  in 30 ml RRP £13 / 75ml RRP £20 sizes (sample sachets, smaller tubes often available as free gifts or in beauty boxes)  – comes in a sealed practical tube (white with blue, black, silver detail/lettering) and screw cap closure.

Description

States suitable for all skin types and can be used as a moisturiser, to cleanse the skin, remove makeup, as a repairing mask, an after shave cream or as a baby care product.  Described as providing the skin with all the nutrients and water needed for its balance, accelerates cell renewal, moisturizes, nourishes and repairs.

Application and Results

Lait-Crème Concentré  is a creamy rich lotion with just a light fresh fragrance and can be applied morning and / or evening to clean dry skin.  I find it takes very little product and I apply it either by itself or over my Antipodes Divine Face Oil  in the morningInitially it does give the skin a slightly too dewy look but once you leave it to sink in for a few minutes I find it leaves my skin hydrated, comfortable, smooth,  more radiant looking even with v little sleep.   I find it is a great primer, the perfect base to apply makeup.  I have tried a lot of different priced primers, and to date the Lait-Crème Concentré  has given me the best results.    Makeup applies so easily on top with no visible dry patches, lines.   I find it is perfect for any dry areas, leaves a smooth, satin finish and also never have had any breakouts after using it.

I have also used it as makeup remover and a repairing overnight mask when my skin feels drier needs a boost and worked well for both but not my main reason for keeping repurchasing, love it more as a moisturiser/primer – however it also is a great product to take with you when you are travelling as means no need to carry so many products because it is such a great multipurpose product, I personally find it can take the place of at least three products.

If you have never heard of this product or got round to trying it yet I  would  definitely recommend trying it for yourself as think you will love it as well, perfect for all ages, skin types and can fit into your normal skin care routine so easily.   It is also v reasonably priced for being such a great multipurpose product.   You can purchase from a number of stores / online sites and some of these may also have free sachet samples you could try first, so always remember to check.  However I have included one online site below where you can currently purchase 1/3 Off – All Embryolisse  products for month of July but remember to always shop around online or in store for best offers before purchasing – hope this helps.

If you have tried the Lait-Crème Concentré before would love to know your thoughts, do you like it as much as me especially as a moisturiser / primer?

Thank you for looking  and look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Thank you – take care and hope you all have a good week.

Roccabox – July 2017 – First Impressions

Hi Everyone

The weekend is here again and with it my July Roccabox beauty box, which I received today.  Although I have not got a chance yet to try the products properly wanted to let you see what was is in it and my first impressions of the contents.

Roccabox is a monthly subscription beauty box which costs £10 a month (plus £3.95 p&p).   Each month you’ll receive a box of  beauty treats hand-picked by one of the industry’s best-loved personalities / influencer, along with their top beauty hints and tips – for more details please see link here.  This month Roccabox have teamed up with The Sunday Girl   – love her site, you can check it out here.

Products come packaged  in an outer white box with rose gold lettering and an information card is also included (photo below – A single double-sided card, not a booklet type like last month).

This months box contained the following six items:

Soap & Glory Mini Rushower Dry Shampoo (50ml) – ‘Travel’ Full Size  RRP £2.50  (200ml is £4) – advises ‘touch release’ technology which means that when you ruffle your fingers through your hair there’ll be a friction-activated burst of mandarin rose and bergamot fragrance – not really a fan of dry shampoos as never found one yet that has left my hair feeling fresh enough that I am comfortable with leaving for a period of time before washes.  I wash my hair every day and have done for a long time, since I was a teenager, however this dry shampoo does smell fresh and fragrance does seem released more when you put your fingers through your hair after spraying.  I will try it properly and if impressed will do a separate review – nice handbag size. (Note: states international subscribers will get a mini hand food cream (50ml) also worth £2.50 instead);

Ellis Faas Concealer in S202 (2.8ml)  – Full Size RRP £22  – *STAR Product this month for me without a doubt.   Firstly have to talk about the silver tone unique packaging, adore it, has a brush applicator and you need to twist up the bottom a number of times for product to be released, creamy consistency and really looking forward to trying properly.  I will post a separate review if product actually lives up to the quality packaging – expect great things and hope I am not disappointed;

Magic Organic Apothecary (MOA) The Green Balm – V Small Sample Size  (15ml £6 and 50ml £15)- no size on packaging think maybe 5ml.  Have tried this product before and it is a multi taking healing balm which is quite good, this is a handy size for the makeup bag but would have been even better if at least the 15ml size had been included in the box;

Evolve Organic Beauty Radiant Glow Face Mask – V Small Sample Size  (30ml is £11) no size on packaging, think maybe a 3/5ml.    Has a lovely chocolate fragrance, a paste type consistency with slight granules in it but when you rub it onto your skin it turns to an oil type consistency which helps the granules to just the buff the skin, think I will enjoy using this product but because the sample size is so small, may only do one application, is not really enough to decide whether you want to purchase or not;

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum (7ml – Sample) – (Full Size is 15ml RRP £16) – decent size sample and good to carry in your makeup bag, in mine already, as states is an ‘on the spot’ soothing gel designed to diminish blemishes and calm inflammation without causing dryness or irritation; and

Burt’s Bee Cleansing Oil with Coconut & Argan Oils for Normal to Dry Skin (29.5ml) – (Full Size 177ml and RRP £16.99) – decent size sample and always useful to have travel size cleansing oils – have this sample size already, I got it in my Feelunique Pick N Mix sample collection but have not got round to trying yet.

Although I do like the variety of products that The Sunday Girl has selected, when I first opened this month’s box I was disappointed as looked so empty, four out of the five items were sample sizes and especially because the sample sizes of the Moa The Green Balm & Evolve face mask were so small.  However as I will use all of the items and  because  a full size Ellis Faas concealer was included (worth £22) I am content enough now with this months box.  Although I personally think it would have been better if five products had been included, instead of six, to ensure all four out of the five were decent sample sizes.   As usual, I keep saying this and fingers crossed one month it will happen, I am hoping more makeup items are included next month.   I still  would recommend trying this box as still good value for money.  Looking forward to see who the ‘influencer’ will be next month and hoping they will have more makeup items in their selection (hopefully samples not as small either).

Would love to know if you are already subscribed to this box, what you thought of this months box?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot and be v much appreciated.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Thank you – take care.

Maggie Anne 6 Free Gel Effect Nail Polish in ‘Grace’ (11ml) – Full Size  £10.50 –  always happy to see a nail polish included in boxes especially when it states they contain no nasty chemicals and are easy to apply and  remove.  Love this dark cerise colour, does apply so easily and although states polish will last 5-7 days with two coats of colour I applied one coat with a base and top coat and it covered v well not patchy, this is my second day of wear and no chips yet so fingers crossed as love the glossy gel effect finish – definitely will be checking out other colours in the range;

An extra item was kindly included in my box (an item from the May 2017 box)

Blogger Recognition Award

blogger-recognition-award-logo.jpg

I am delighted to let you know my blog was v kindly nominated for the ‘Blogger Recognition Award’ recently by Jennifer from Jennifer Hughes Reviews.   I was v surprised and honoured to have been nominated by this lovely lady – thank you so much Jennifer, means a lot.   Jennifer’s blog is informative and beautiful and if haven’t got round to checking it out yet, you need too as you won’t be disappointed.

I started my blog at the end of June 2016 and since then have been very lucky to have the opportunity to work with a number of  amazing people / companies.  I have also been delighted to have had  the opportunity to meet a few bloggers and hoping to get the chance to meet many more before the end of 2017.

If you are not familiar with the Blogger Recognition Award, it is an award that is given out by bloggers to other bloggers. It is a way for bloggers to recognize and support each other. There is a lot more than just writing that goes on behind the scenes to have a blog become successful. This award helps recognize that hard work and I couldn’t be more proud to be part of this community!

There are few things I have to do before accepting the award:

  • I must thank the blogger Jennifer who kindly nominated me and provide a link to her blog
  • I must write a post to showcase the award.
  • I must write a story about why or how I started my blog.
  • I must give new bloggers at least two pieces of advice.
  • I must select fifteen other bloggers to receive the award from me.
  • I must leave a comment on my nominees’ blogs to tell them about the award, and provide a link to this post.

How Beauty Fashion Chit Chat Started

I just love beauty and fashion and have always thought about starting a blog, for approximately 7 years prior to starting it, but as you need to dedicate time to it and as any spare time I had outside work before end of 2015 was precious time I needed and wanted to spend with my family (nothing more precious than family time), especially our children, and our parents, I never got round to starting it.

However after my precious, beautiful, kind  Father who had dementia for a number of years and who we all were so lucky / honoured to be able to care for at home v, v sadly passed away at the end of 2015 I knew I needed  to get a hobby to help fill my spare time, help take my mind off things.   As I always wanted my own blog  I decided this was the perfect time to get it started, not just talk about doing it, so that is how my Beauty Fashion Chit Chat blog came about – decided on the name as just wanted to chit chat about things I loved.

I was apprehensive about starting my blog but as I am a positive person and believe the glass is always half full I went ahead as thought this was the perfect hobby and something I knew I would love doing.

One year later and I am so glad I did, cannot believe how many followers I already have  (I know to some not that many but to me more than I expected at this stage without really promoting it too much).  I find it so therapeutic, it helps take my mind off things and I just love doing it, especially when I receive such positive feedback from followers and getting this blog recognition award from Jennifer has made it extra special.

I still have so much to learn, want to do and cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Advice To New Bloggers

  • It is never too late to start a blog, so if it is something you really want to do, go for it and blog about what you are passionate about & love, do it for you and all the hard work will pay off and it will not be long until you see the benefits.
  • Join other social media outlets if you haven’t already, I personally love instagram and find facebook groups really helpful as well.

And The Nominees Are…

So many excellent bloggers and hard to limit it to just 15 – Congratulations to you all and best wishes for the future – Happy Blogging.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Thank you and take care.

Sosueme.ie Beauty / Fashion Masterclass – 25 June 2017 @ Galgorm Resort and Spa

Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a great weekend, it goes past so quick and so hard to believe almost the end of June already.

DAvcrcPXgAIAirw

As part of my passion for beauty and fashion I love attending beauty and fashion events and when they include afternoon tea as well that is the perfect combination, not forgetting goodie bags, which I think we all love.   So when I saw Suzanne Jackson ( Sosueme.ie) was having another Masterclass in Northern Ireland on 25th June 2017 at the Galgorm Resort and Spa Hotel, Ballymena, Northern Ireland, could not resist and purchased tickets.

Suzanne Jackson  is one of Ireland’s leading fashion and beauty bloggers, if you have not heard of her before you can read more about her here.

Tickets for the event cost 75 Euro / £67.30 each and included the following:

  • To start Suzanne Jackson  give an overview of her background which included her work as a beautician, how she got started blogging, got to where is she today, a fantastic business woman.  She is beautiful and comes across very well, genuine, knowledgeable, a brilliant speaker and real people person, in my opinion she definitely was at the front of the queue when they give out those skills;
  • Contouring / makeup demo by Suzanne herself using her Contour and Highlight palette – I have both but have not tried them properly yet but when I do will post a separate review on them;
  • Very informative and useful skincare tips by skincare specialist Corinna Tolan (specifically talking about Environ Skincare which I am now intrigued about and want to research further);
  • Then there was a break for afternoon tea – it was so, so, yummy, food delicious, (sorry no photos as we all tucked into it so quickly as not individual plates / tiers, although not a problem at our table as we all shared equally), only slight negative, but I had found this at most events, delay getting tea or coffee, I understand because of the large crowd difficult to make sure all served on a timely basis but if hotels could work on improving this element it would be great; however definitely would recommend treating yourself to afternoon tea at the Galgorm if you can, as so tasty and beautiful surroundings;
  • Makeup demo by local makeup artist LMD, Louise Mc Donnell (further details here) – she is so talented and witty;
  • Haircare demo by Imelda Maguire using her weave hairpieces, a great alternative to hair extensions, a number of colours available, check her site here for more details;
  • Airbrush makeup demo by Fiona from FMN Makeup and Hair – for when you want that  natural long wear look, perfect for weddings or even that special night out;
  • Short fashion show featuring high street brands, followed by prize draw and award of gorgeous prizes.

As you can see it was a day packed with demos, informative talks,  it was obvious a lot of thought had went into  the day,  v well planned by Suzanne Jackson and all her team / family and definitely worth the ticket price.  I  would highly recommend attending any  future Sosueme.ie events  if you can, as they are very well run, informative as well as being very professional.     Suzanne and her team do an excellent job, real family affair and all very approachable which makes it that bit more special.
