Blogger Recognition Award

blogger-recognition-award-logo.jpg

I am delighted to let you know my blog was v kindly nominated for the ‘Blogger Recognition Award’ recently by Jennifer from Jennifer Hughes Reviews.   I was v surprised and honoured to have been nominated by this lovely lady – thank you so much Jennifer, means a lot.   Jennifer’s blog is informative and beautiful and if haven’t got round to checking it out yet, you need too as you won’t be disappointed.

I started my blog at the end of June 2016 and since then have been very lucky to have the opportunity to work with a number of  amazing people / companies.  I have also been delighted to have had  the opportunity to meet a few bloggers and hoping to get the chance to meet many more before the end of 2017.

If you are not familiar with the Blogger Recognition Award, it is an award that is given out by bloggers to other bloggers. It is a way for bloggers to recognize and support each other. There is a lot more than just writing that goes on behind the scenes to have a blog become successful. This award helps recognize that hard work and I couldn’t be more proud to be part of this community!

There are few things I have to do before accepting the award:

  • I must thank the blogger Jennifer who kindly nominated me and provide a link to her blog
  • I must write a post to showcase the award.
  • I must write a story about why or how I started my blog.
  • I must give new bloggers at least two pieces of advice.
  • I must select fifteen other bloggers to receive the award from me.
  • I must leave a comment on my nominees’ blogs to tell them about the award, and provide a link to this post.

How Beauty Fashion Chit Chat Started

I just love beauty and fashion and have always thought about starting a blog, for approximately 7 years prior to starting it, but as you need to dedicate time to it and as any spare time I had outside work before end of 2015 was precious time I needed and wanted to spend with my family (nothing more precious than family time), especially our children, and our parents, I never got round to starting it.

However after my precious, beautiful, kind  Father who had dementia for a number of years and who we all were so lucky / honoured to be able to care for at home v, v sadly passed away at the end of 2015 I knew I needed  to get a hobby to help fill my spare time, help take my mind off things.   As I always wanted my own blog  I decided this was the perfect time to get it started, not just talk about doing it, so that is how my Beauty Fashion Chit Chat blog came about – decided on the name as just wanted to chit chat about things I loved.

I was apprehensive about starting my blog but as I am a positive person and believe the glass is always half full I went ahead as thought this was the perfect hobby and something I knew I would love doing.

One year later and I am so glad I did, cannot believe how many followers I already have  (I know to some not that many but to me more than I expected at this stage without really promoting it too much).  I find it so therapeutic, it helps take my mind off things and I just love doing it, especially when I receive such positive feedback from followers and getting this blog recognition award from Jennifer has made it extra special.

I still have so much to learn, want to do and cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Advice To New Bloggers

  • It is never too late to start a blog, so if it is something you really want to do, go for it and blog about what you are passionate about & love, do it for you and all the hard work will pay off and it will not be long until you see the benefits.
  • Join other social media outlets if you haven’t already, I personally love instagram and find facebook groups really helpful as well.

And The Nominees Are…

So many excellent bloggers and hard to limit it to just 15 – Congratulations to you all and best wishes for the future – Happy Blogging.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Thank you and take care.

Sosueme.ie Beauty / Fashion Masterclass – 25 June 2017 @ Galgorm Resort and Spa

Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a great weekend, it goes past so quick and so hard to believe almost the end of June already.

DAvcrcPXgAIAirw

As part of my passion for beauty and fashion I love attending beauty and fashion events and when they include afternoon tea as well that is the perfect combination, not forgetting goodie bags, which I think we all love.   So when I saw Suzanne Jackson ( Sosueme.ie) was having another Masterclass in Northern Ireland on 25th June 2017 at the Galgorm Resort and Spa Hotel, Ballymena, Northern Ireland, could not resist and purchased tickets.

Suzanne Jackson  is one of Ireland’s leading fashion and beauty bloggers, if you have not heard of her before you can read more about her here.

Tickets for the event cost 75 Euro / £67.30 each and included the following:

  • To start Suzanne Jackson  give an overview of her background which included her work as a beautician, how she got started blogging, got to where is she today, a fantastic business woman.  She is beautiful and comes across very well, genuine, knowledgeable, a brilliant speaker and real people person, in my opinion she definitely was at the front of the queue when they give out those skills;
  • Contouring / makeup demo by Suzanne herself using her Contour and Highlight palette – I have both but have not tried them properly yet but when I do will post a separate review on them;
  • Very informative and useful skincare tips by skincare specialist Corinna Tolan (specifically talking about Environ Skincare which I am now intrigued about and want to research further);
  • Then there was a break for afternoon tea – it was so, so, yummy, food delicious, (sorry no photos as we all tucked into it so quickly as not individual plates / tiers, although not a problem at our table as we all shared equally), only slight negative, but I had found this at most events, delay getting tea or coffee, I understand because of the large crowd difficult to make sure all served on a timely basis but if hotels could work on improving this element it would be great; however definitely would recommend treating yourself to afternoon tea at the Galgorm if you can, as so tasty and beautiful surroundings;
  • Makeup demo by local makeup artist LMD, Louise Mc Donnell (further details here) – she is so talented and witty;
  • Haircare demo by Imelda Maguire using her weave hairpieces, a great alternative to hair extensions, a number of colours available, check her site here for more details;
  • Airbrush makeup demo by Fiona from FMN Makeup and Hair – for when you want that  natural long wear look, perfect for weddings or even that special night out;
  • Short fashion show featuring high street brands, followed by prize draw and award of gorgeous prizes.

As you can see it was a day packed with demos, informative talks,  it was obvious a lot of thought had went into  the day,  v well planned by Suzanne Jackson and all her team / family and definitely worth the ticket price.  I  would highly recommend attending any  future Sosueme.ie events  if you can, as they are very well run, informative as well as being very professional.     Suzanne and her team do an excellent job, real family affair and all very approachable which makes it that bit more special.

Now onto the goodies we got (so, so impressed with the goodie bag and love that there a number of new brands, products for me to try), which if you are like me is what you also look forward to seeing:

Firstly on the table was An Avoca gift bag for each person containing a beautiful Avoca No7 Wild Meadow fragranced soap (40g) and a Maria Lucia Bakes Granola.

The goodie bag itself – (was at an earlier Sosueme.ie event and the goodie bag there was good one but this one is even better, included photo of the other goodie bag underneath as well to see what you think).

  • SOSU Nail Polish Remover Lemon & Lime 150ml;
  • SOSU Pro Blender & Complexion Sponge;
  • Human and Kind Wash Off Facial Cleanser 100ml with Deep Cleansing Cloth (will do a separate post on this soon);
  • Powder ‘n’ Pout – The Bullet P325;
  • Primark Lip Laquer in Pink (different products included in goodie bags);
  • Wet n Wild Kohl Eyeliner in Baby’s Got Black;
  • Wet n Wild Megaslicks Lip Gloss in Berried Treasure;
  • Suu Balm Fast Itch Relieving Moisturising Cream 15ml;
  • Flomar Colour Stretch Eyeshadow in Future White 5g;
  • Good 4U Super Seed Snack with Cranberry & Apricot 25g;
  • Urban Veda Purifying Complete Discovery Set, which came in a beautiful drawstring pouch and contained the following items; Purifying Body Lotion, Body Wash Body Scrub all 50ml, Facial Wash & Polish 20ml each and Day Cream 10ml – what a great way to try this range will also do a separate post when I get the chance to try properly; and lastly
  • 2 vouchers for the The Spa at Galgorm; £20 off treatments and day spa packages and £10 Gift Voucher – cannot wait to use as well.

Goodie Bag below which I got at a Sosueme.ie event in Dublin, held earlier this year:

Hope you enjoyed reading about the event and seeing what was in the goodie bags – welcome any comments and love to know if you would like to read about any future events I attend as well.

If you are not a follower would love you to subscribe / follow my blog too would mean a lot.

Thank you

Best Wishes Liz x

My Little ‘Friday Night’ Box-May 17

Hi Everyone

Hope your weekend going well.

It is beauty box time again, I received the May 2017 edition of  My Little Box on Thursday.   This was perfect timing as the theme for this month’s box is ‘Friday Night’- the Illustrated box, cards, packaging as always is coordinated perfectly in line with this month’s theme.     The box costs £14.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month (but as always check to see if any offers on first, if thinking of subscribing).

Wording on front of box said ‘Do Not Open Before Friday Night’ and I managed this partially but just could not resist taking a peek at the beauty items.

Included in this months box are:

‘My Little Box’  Coasters – 4 cork coasters wrapped in ribbon with a beautiful pattern on front in line with this month’s theme;

‘My Little Box’ Shake your Bowtie – bow tie for your braslide on bowtie for when you are wearing a backless dress, top, have a peekaboo bra and want to make it more a stylist statement piece – something different and love the packaging;

‘My Little Box’ Love Gold Tone Triangle Hairpin – does hold your hair securely and is a different take on the hairclip/pin – again love the packaging;

NailMatic Varnish 8ml ml (full size) –  Never heard of this brand before, beautiful bright coral / orange colour, like the shape of the brush – however it applies slightly streaky with one coat so you really need to apply two coats (does state on the information card two coats are always better than one) – will definitely wear it as a perfect colour for this time of year;

My Little Beauty All Black Eyeliner with Smudger (full size)  A soft solid black eyeliner which glides on very easily and works well with smudger – however not sure how long-lasting it will be and disappointed that mine is damaged;

Bumble and Bumble Surf Infusion Spray – 45ml   – oil and salt infused spray for soft tossed waves with sheen – does smell lovely and perfect size for travelling /  holidays;

Although loved the theme and design of this month’s box / items and liked the items, it is not one of my favourite My Little Boxes but definitely a better box for me than last months as prefer the three beauty items – disappointed my pencil arrived damaged as we all prefer to receive items in perfect condition, have now sharpened, cleaned it up but still breaking off a bit so not sure if it is just the pencil or because mine is damaged (have contacted My Little Box about it so will let you know next month what they say).

I still would  recommend subscribing to this box as it is still one of the boxes I really look forward to receiving each month.

Any queries / comments please let me know, also if you received this months box would love to know what you thought of it?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot – will have more posts up over the weekend as well.

Thank you – take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Box of Style The Zoe Report – Spring 17

Hi All

Delighted as received my ‘Spring 2017’ Box of Style yesterday.   For the Spring 2017 box, Rachel Zoe and her team focused on highlighting female founded brands.

As advised in my earlier post here,  The  Zoe Report Box of Style is a US seasonal box (4 boxes per year) which costs $100 per box  and contains a variety of items (could be clothing, accessories, skincare, jewellery, makeup etc.).  The contents of each seasonal box  are different and contain around six items, one of which is a high value ‘hero’ item – could be item of clothing, jewellery, a bag etc.  International shipping is  available to the UK  for a flat rate of  $15 per box / shipment.  (full details on subscription(s) / shipping can be found at http://boxofstyle.thezoereport.com/)

I avoided the majority of the spoilers online, only had seen what one of the items, so was excited to see what was inside,  as you receive all the items individually wrapped in tissue paper within the black magnetic closure box it prolongs the excitement / surprise element.

Adornmonde Ivo Earrings in choice of either gold tone or silver tone= $62– difficult choice but I chose the gold option – for pierced ears, the bars can be worn alone and then add the hoop as you wish, as I love hoop earrings I probably will wear both together most of the time – love these earrings and know I will wear them a lot as perfect for any outfit;

Red and Gold Symbology Handcrafted Scarf = $50 –this is another exclusive collaboration and this time with Symbology who was founded by Marissa Heyl.  The colour of this scarf is beautiful and although a shorter scarf can still be styled so many ways including loosely round the neck, tie on your handbag strap for a splash of colour;

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder- $65 never heard of this brand – states was founded by Victoria Tsai and inspired by Geisha beauty rituals and their mantra that less is more – really intrigued and looking forward to trying this.  Comes in a beautiful presentation box as well.  When I try it and if I am impressed, will post a separate review;

img_3257-1

img_3258-1

Butter London Nail Polish in ‘Piece of Cake’= $18 – pale pink colour and although I have similar colours, I have not got this one so perfect addition to the collection;

A bonus sponsored item included this month was a Stella Artois Limited Edition Chalice (had to be 21 or over to receive this).  Today 663 million people live without access to clean water and Stella Artois and water-org have partnered to help.  By purchasing 1 Limited Edition Chalice you can help Water-org provide 5 years of clean water for 1 person in the developing world – you can find out more details at BuyALadyADrink.com.

As I was away when my Winter 2016 box arrived, I have included a photo below (value $433.50) but if you would like more detail please let me know.

Olivia Burton Midi Dial Chrono Watch

Good Morning All

Hope you all had a good weekend – doesn’t it just fly though.

As I have told you before I love jewellery and one of my recent purchases has been an Olivia Burton watch.  Olivia Burton brand was established by ex-fashion buyers Lesa Bennett and Jemma Fennings who launched the label in 2012.   The best friends founded Olivia Burton after spotting a gap in the market for affordable, stylish and fashion-led watches (they also sell other accessories now as well).

img_2955-1

I had already browsed the Olivia Burton range online and in-store and as I was impressed with their many designs / colour choices, when I got a discount code Dressing Room.com voucher through a dressing room competition I decided this was the time to treat myself.  Although there were so many styles I liked, I finally decided on the midi dial Chrono gold / silver one with black leather strap RRP £115. (seems to be out of stock at the minute but the same style available in different colours).

I was delighted when I received the package as the exterior floral design box is beautiful and the light gold shimmer gift box with velvet feel cushion is stunning as well, so initial impressions are off a quality product and you definitely are not disappointed.

img_2950-1

img_2952-1img_2953-1img_2956-1

The silver face features 3 yellow gold small chrono dials, markers in a yellow gold plated stainless steel case and comes with a quality black soft leather strap. The case and strap are both etched with the Olivia Burton logo on the underside and states has Japanese Quartz Movement.  Case measures 30 x 30mm and watch comes with a 1 year guarantee.  I think this design  is perfect for everyday and any occasion.

img_2945-1

img_2949

This watch is so comfortable to wear and  looks good whatever you are wearing, as with all leather straps the underside will get marked with wear.  I definitely would recommend checking out the Olivia Burton range as I think they have a style to suit the majority of people and have smaller and larger styles available as well.   I have already bought two more watches as gifts and they adored them as well, feel they are suitable for most occasions.

The range is available through a number of stores including Olivia Burton.com,  Dressing Room.com; Argento.com, however as always check around to see where you get the best value, currently with Dressing Room.com if you sign up to their newsletter you can get 10% off your first order with free shipping.

Thank you for looking and look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Hope you all have a good week  – will have more posts up later and throughout the week.

Best Wishes Liz x
