Review: Caudalie Cleansers, Glycolic Peel Mask & Overnight Detox Oil

Hi

Hope you are all had a lovely weekend and weather is good too wherever you are.

As I have said before I am always so, so grateful, feel so privileged when ‘companies/brands’ kindly *gift me products from their or a brand’s range to try. Recently Love Me Beauty v kindly sent me four Caudalie skincare products to try – I was over the moon as love a number of products from this range already.  You can find out more about the Caudalie brand / range via the link here.

They kindly sent me:

The Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil, Instant Foaming Cleanser, Glycolic Peel and Overnight Detox Oil.

Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil 150ml RRP £18

If you have been following me for a while you will know although I try a lot of cleansers one of my favourites at the moment is the L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil (you can see my earlier review here to know why), so I was really excited to try this oil to see how it would compare.

It states this moisturising grape & sweet almond Cleansing Oil can be used on the face and eyes works to dissolve all types of make-up, including waterproof, whilst removing impurities and cleansing the skin.  The blend of 100% naturally derived plant oils nourishes and softens the skin without leaving a greasy film.

Directions: Warm 3 pumps between your palms and massage onto dry skin, emulsify with a little water and rinse thoroughly.

img_4390

This has a pump applicator which I prefer and has a slightly heavier oil consistency.  I applied / apply as directed and I found / find it does remove makeup easily but as I always remove my eye makeup with cotton pads and micellar water first I found two pumps is enough.  Alhough I do not mind a light almond fragrance when you add water to this cleansing oil the fragrance gets stronger and is more like a light marzipan fragrance which I am not a fan off.  Although it does feel really good on the skin and removes all types of makeup really easily.  Leaves my skin feeling really clean, refreshed, and hydrated as well, no tightness at all. I am really impressed with this cleansing oil and I think it is that good would say it comes v, v  close to  my ‘hero’ L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil (200ml RRP£19).  The only slight difference is the feel of the oil and the fragrance, (however you also get 50ml more, with the L’Occitane Cleansing oil, for only £1 extra unless either cleansing oils are on offer), prefer the L’Occitane one but I found the results were just as good with this one, so I would definitely consider purchasing this one and highly recommend trying both especially if you love oil cleansers.

Would consider purchasing.

Instant Foaming Cleanser 50ml RRP £7.50

img_4383

It is described as a light and airy foam cleanser,  infused with purifying sage and moisturising grape extract, the soap-free formula rids the skin of impurities and gently cleanses the skin using 98% naturally derived ingredients. Skin is left refreshed and glowing, without stripping the skin of it’s natural moisture

Directions: Use morning and evening on damp skin. Rinse with water.

img_4384

This also has a pump applicator and has a foam consistency, a fresh natural fragrance and feels lovely on the skin as well.   I applied as directed and found one to two pumps is enough, and although cleanses the skin really well and skin looks and feel refreshed, I found skin a little bit tight on areas after using, although no other irritations. I have combination skin so think this cleanser may be even better on an oiler skin. Although I do think it is still a good enough cleanser and I do like the fragrance, not as good as the cleansing oil for me personally so will not be purchasing.

Just not for me,  not as good as the cleansing oil above.

The Glycolic Peel Mask – All Skin Types 75ml RRP £22

Described as for anyone suffering with dull complexion in need of an instant boost of radiance. This dual-action skin renewal treatment works like a scrub and a peel at the same time, for a renewed skin effect.  Formulated with 85.7% natural origin ingredients, this luxurious and non-irritating mask provides the ultimate spa-like glow from the comfort of your own home.

  • Gently exfoliates
  • Activates cell renewal

Directions: Apply the mask twice a week to dry skin, avoiding the eye contour area. Leave on for 10 minutes then rinse with water

This mask comes in a squeezy tube with a screw wooden type cap – as it is classed as a peel was not sure what to expect. However I was v pleasantly surprised when I seen it had a thick cream consistency and a light natural fragrance.   I applied as directed and it feels so comfortable on the skin there is no problem leaving on for the 10 minutes.    So easy to remove with water, leaves skin looking bright, revigorated and smooth to the touch, gives the skin a lovely boost.  Looks like you had a really good nights sleep.   I definitely think this mask gives that little bit extra, think this is down to the mixture of the ingredients; Glycolic acid, Papaya and Viniferine (this is a new one for me but states is for radiance).  Although this tube will last for ages even using twice a week I will definitely purchase and would recommend trying for yourself if you can.   My favourite product out of the 4 items.
Will Purchase.
  img_4377

Most expensive of the four items and one I am still undecided about.

States this dry oil will renew & protect overtired skin while you sleep. Is ideal for skin exposed to stress, pollution, UV’s & other free radical’s. The skin is detoxified and smoothed, the complexion refreshed.

Infused with anti-oxidant grape-seed, regenerating rose hip, purifying neroli, soothing lavender and detoxifying carrot oils, this 100% plant-based formula promotes cellular renewal & toxin elimination.

  • Regenerates
  • Detoxifies
  • Smoothes out lines
  • 100% natural origin formula.

Directions: Apply 6 drops in the evening, either alone or before your moisturiser.  Avoid the area around the eye.

img_4381

This oil comes in a glass bottle with a dropper applicator – the fragrance is slightly stronger, still a natural fragrance but not one I would normally reach for. I applied as directed and used both without  and with a night time moisturiser.  It does apply easily and although 6 drops seems a lot at the beginning it does not take too long to sink in, although a slight sheen remains.  It does feel comfortable on and skin does feel hydrated. In the morning skin does appear to be slightly brighter but did not notice a lot of difference when I used without a moisturiser, still not sure about smoothing out fine lines as have not noticed any additional benefits than just with my ‘normal’ night time serum / moisturiser.

That  being said some mornings I think my skin does maybe look more refreshed but not sure if that is down to the oil or just having a better nights sleep.  Therefore at this stage would not considering purchasing as still undecided about results – however will keep using in my skincare routine to see if I notice any additional benefits with prolonged use and if I do, will let you know.

Still undecided – at this stage will not be purchasing.

I was v happy to get the chance to try these four products especially as I now would definitely purchase the Glycolic Peel Mask and consider purchasing the cleansing oil.

Recommend you checking out these and other items from the Caudalie range including their Divine range especially as until tomorrow 28th May 2018 you are able to get 20% off when you use the code BANKHOL18 (excluding gift sets, duos, trios, SPA & gift vouchers) online at Caudalie.com.    If this offer has finished when you read this there are regular gift with purchases online with a set spend.   You usually are also able to select a set of samples at checkout while stocks lasts.

Look forward to any comments you may have.   Have you heard about or tried any products from this range before?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  Will have more posts up tomorrow and / or during the week.

Thank you – take care and hope you all have a great week.

Review: Love Me Beauty Phase Zero Makeup – Metal Veil / Coconut Liquid Eyeshadows

Hi Everyone

I was delighted to kindly receive my latest *Love Me Beauty / Phase Zero Makeup  products early last week (you can see my first review via the link here).   This month I received eight liquid eyeshadows to try a mix of the Metal Veil and Coconut eyeshadows. If you have been following me for a while you will know I love eyeshadows so v happy to receive the Phase Zero makeup liquid versions to try as well.

Love Me Beauty / Phase Zero Makeup Service

Firstly you need to sign up – 1 month membership is £5 but states minimum contract is 3 months.  Then after you become a LMB member you will gain access to LMB factory prices,  LMB advised this will save us 77%.   You can buy the ‘Phase Zero’ products without a membership but works out a lot more expensive this way especially if you are purchasing a number of items. However  Love Me Beauty has made some changes and NEW users can now get 90 days membership completely free AND you can also use my code (LIZC5) at checkout to get £5 off your first order (not including P&P and you must spend £5 or more), so a good time to try this range if you can.

I received the following 8 shades (members price £4.00 each RRP £12.50 each);  – as previous months, all came in a heavier see through / silver resealable packet in an outer cardboard box as well.

When I opened the package again first impressions were v good as always happy to see items individually boxed and liked the selection of colours included, some neutral shades,  with a few ‘stand out colours’ as well. The ‘Coconut’ Eyeshadows have a more liquid creamy formula and the ‘Metal Veil’ eyeshadows have a thicker consistency but still creamy.   No matt shades again but I personally prefer more a sheen finish with liquid eyeshadows.

 Swatches below:

Do like all these shades but the ‘White Rabbit’ shade is a Metal Veil eyeshadow and has a bit more shimmer, so would really only use under the brow bone or inner corner of the eye as just does not apply as well as the other shades.

If I had to select only four shades; my favourites would have to be Merlot, Valentines, Romance and Fancy – look really good on and work with so many other colours as well.

img_4167

V happy to be *gifted these to try.   I found pigmentation and coverage was good, applied easily, only v slight transfer until they dried, no smudging, satin/metallic type finish and all lasted well throughout the day again when I wore as normal with my eyeshadow primer and Mac Shroom eyeshadow underneath.  Again good selection of base, transition/contour and all over shades.  Few of the shades had a more shimmery finish but majority had a lovely sheen type finish – see swatches above.  I prefer the consistency of the coconut eyeshadows, a more creamy liquid finish,  as I found these applied more easily, though this consistency also took longer to dry.    Although I kindly received these for review consideration I would definitely consider purchasing a number of these and other shades in the range as they are reasonably priced at only £4 each.

I would definitely recommend checking out the LMB service / Phase Zero Makeup range as I personally think quality is good and is also more reasonably priced than some other makeup ranges and especially as NEW members now get a 90 day FREE membership.  You can find out even more about the LMB subscription service here.

Look forward to any comments you may have – love to know what you think about the LMB  service / Phase Zero Makeup range or if you have signed up to this new service already?

Thank you – enjoy the rest of the week and take care.

Review: Birchbox UK – May 2018

Hi Everyone

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.  I received my May Birchbox last Thursday.  Theme of this month’s box is ‘Palm Leaves & Warm Breeze’.

The colourful design / pattern of the box is definitely in line with this month’s theme.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box which costs £12.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.  Usually five personalised beauty treats are included each month.

This month every box contains a sample size of the Doucce Luscious Lip Stain – subscribers were able to choose from two shades, Steaming Red or Amber Rose (I chose Amber Rose).   A product  / beauty information booklet and the following four products were also included in my box:

Doucce Luscious Lip Stain – ‘Amber Rose’ (deluxe sample / travel size)  Full Size RRP £21 tried a number of items from this brand before and have found them quite good.   I chose Amber Rose as it a dusky pink which is one of my favourite lip colours.  It has good pigmentation, looks and feels creamy on the lips, applies v easily, only slight transfer, does not feel drying on the lips either which is great. It also lasts really well, although to maintain true colour need to apply few times during the day, evening.    Initial thoughts are that I would definitely consider purchasing full size in this colour and other shades as well.

Greenfrog Botanic Geranium & Peppermint Botanical Bodywash – (sample size 50ml)  300ml RRP £8.95  – always happy to see body washes in boxes as useful to have, but quite a small sample to receive considering the full size is 300ml.  However this fragrance is not really for as don’t like peppermint/mint fragrances in skincare products, this one is also quite strong too.  Although it does have a nice creamy consistency and cleanses the skin ok but has not impressed me that much to consider purchasing in another fragrance.

Native Unearthed Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant Balm (15g – sample size) Full Size 60ml RRP £7.99 – I was happy to see this in my box to try however when I received my box the lid was off the jar and only 1/4 left in jar.  However it does smell fresh and feels good/gentle on the skin but still not that confident with these types of deodorants, have tried few times but still unsure how it would last throughout an ‘active’ day so need to try for a longer period to confirm results – if impressed and would consider purchasing will post a separate review.

img_3772

I am hoping for an even better box next month – good start with the sneak peak below.

SPOILER:  June Sneak Peek (below) is a ella EDEN Compact Eyeshadow in either Faith or Julia (Julia looks similar to my favourite Mac eyeshadow in ‘Shroom’) subscribers will receive an email to enable us to choose which colour.

If you subscribe during MAY for your first Birchbox you will get two FREE LOC One & Done Shadow Sticks (worth £16), while stocks last.  Just need to use the code PAIR at checkout.
Or just in case you prefer money off your box (do not think you can use both) you can get £5 off your first box – (box is normally £10 +£2.95 shipping – you will get for £5 +£2.95 shipping) by clicking  link here and then copy and paste code at checkout to get your discount.    Thank you in advance if you use this link.

Look forward to any comments you may have – if you have received this month’s box would love to know what you thought, did you receive the same products as me in your box?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  Will have more posts up during and / or end of the week.

Hope you have a really enjoyable week.

Thank you & take care.

Review: Back to M∙A∙C ‘Recycle/Reward’ Program

Hi Everyone

Just in case you are not aware, wanted to let you know about the M∙A∙C Cosmetics Recycling / Reward ‘Back to M∙A∙C Program’, another ‘beauty’ recycle/reward scheme that I think is great.

So easy to be rewarded for recycling as all you need to do is return six empty M∙A∙C ‘full size’ primary containers to a M∙A∙C counter or M∙A∙C Cosmetics online and then you will receive a FREE M∙A∙C lipstick of your choice as a thank you.   You can find out more details about the recycle / reward scheme here or by asking in store.

As 100% of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipsticks and Lipglass is provided to organizations that help people living with HIV/AIDS, these are excluded from their ‘recycle / rewards’ program.

I understand it may take a while to have six ’empties’ to return but it is still a great way to be rewarded for recycling especially if you purchase a lot of M∙A∙C products already. As I use my ‘hero’ M∙A∙C  eyeshadow in ‘Shroom’ as a base on top of my eye primer most days this helps, meant I recently had a another six empty containers to return / recycle in exchange for a FREE lipstick.  It was perfect timing as my favourite M∙A∙C  Cremesheen lipstick in ‘Hot Gossip (RRP £17.50) was almost finished so I chose to get it as my FREE Lipstick.

I love this lipstick as it is the perfect ‘pink’ shade not too light or dark and as it is in the cremesheen formula so easy to apply and feels so good on the lips, need to reapply a number of times throughout the day but I do not mind this as love it so much.  I also have found that the M∙A∙C PatentPolish Lip Pencil in ‘Kittenish‘ (RRP £18) is the perfect partner as almost the same shade and just gives that extra sheen to the lips, it is beautiful on its own as well, so creamy and comfortable.

Love to know if you have managed to get any products through this recycle / reward scheme yet.  If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Thank you & take care.

Best Wishes Liz x
