Review: Moi-Même Box – ‘Winter’ Edition

Hi Everyone

I received the Winter ‘The Happiness’ Moi-Même box last weekend.  This is my second box but first review (photo of last box at the bottom of post).  The  Moi-Même box is a UK ‘seasonal’ box (4 boxes per year) which costs £44.99 per box  (annual subscription) or £49.95 (quarterly subscription) and contains a variety of items (could be clothing, accessories, stationery, skincare, jewellery, homeware, makeup etc.).   Delivery is free for our UK subscribers and costs £14.95 per box for the rest of the world.  (full details on subscription(s) / shipping can be found at moi-même.co.uk.

I decided to subscribe to this box as had seen what was in previous boxes and was impressed and since My Little Box has cancelled their UK subscription service last year I have been on the look out for something similar but on a quarterly basis.

100 Day Happiness Planner (RRP£20) – I received it in Black, which I do not mind as Black is one of my favourite colours – you may receive a different colour.  The hardback Planner comes in a protective cardboard ‘sleeve’, contains inspiration quotes and is undated so you can start it at any time.   Love it is undated and will definitely use so v happy to see this included – impressed, so will definitely be checking out more from this range;

Lagom:  The Swedish Art of Living a Balanced, Happy Life by Niki Brantmark (RRP£10) – Hard back quality book – had heard briefly of this book before but had never read it.  ‘Niki Brantmark’ is sharing her tips for a happy, lagom life in this book.  So definitely in line with the theme of this box – really looking for forward to relaxing and reading this book;

Prismologie Bath Oil with Vetiver and Jade 100ml =  (Full Size RRP£43) – over the moon to see a Full Size item included from this brand.  I had been kindly treated to some samples from this luxury range when I was at the Stylist Live event last year.  Really enjoyed using the samples I had been given and had intended to check out more from the range.  Love the packaging and the bath oil smells lovely without being overpowering – definitely looking forward to using – will do a full review when I get chance to try properly, states only need two capfuls so should last for a while.  Perfect way to try this luxury brand;

Beautiful personalised Mug from Lisa Angel RRP £9 – White with pastel pink interior & gold lettering (depending on the ‘letter’ you may receive the pastel green version).  Love this mug and have taken it to work – just remember not to put it in the dishwasher.  We also kindly received a Lola’s Apothecary relaxing wellness tea sample to try – perfect;

img_7938

A gorgeous Leather & Ball Chain Bracelet also from Lisa Angel RRP£10 – I received the grey and rose gold version – there is a stone and silver version as well.  It is quite a delicate bracelet which features a leather band with a curved bar, a chain with tiny beads and a tassel detail.  It fits my wrist perfectly at the smallest size, as I have quite small wrist – it has an extender option which is great.  Looks well worn by itself or along with other bangles.

We also received Bar of chocolate from Creighton’s Chocolaterie RRP£4 – different options and I received the House Dark – dark chocolate bar, did not mind which version I got as I love most chocolate.  Never heard of this brand before so great way to try as well.

Photo below of the Autumn 2017 edition box which I also loved – hard to choose between the two but this may have been my favourite of the two because of the inclusion of a sweatshirt, candle & palette but I am v happy with both – looking forward to using all this months products and cannot wait to see what will be in the next box now.

Thank you – take care.

Review: Stylist Live Event – November 2017

Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a good weekend.

As you know as part of my passion for beauty and fashion I love attending beauty and fashion events and one event I have been wanting to attend for the last few years has been the Stylist Live event, held each year usually over three days in England – you can find out more details here.  Stylist Live is more than a beauty & fashion event, it helps bring the Stylist magazine to life across three days of experts, interviews, comedy, food, beauty and fashion exclusives.

As dates suited myself and my daughter this year I could not resist and bought the VIP tickets for us both.

These are the different ticket options available – details below, however always check what offers are on as you usually can get really good offers on tickets at the beginning, nearer the dates (if available) i.e. two for one etc. which is particularly good value on the Gold VIP tickets, (I got my tickets at the beginning).

buy-tickets-9-922x1024

This year Stylist Live was held in the Olympia London from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th November; Friday 10am-9pm, Saturday 10am – 7pm and Sunday 10am – 6pm and we attended on the  Friday  and as we were staying in London and only approximately a 10 minute walk from the venue we arrived at the start and as we were in no rush leaving, we did not mind the long queues for treatments.

If you a VIP ticket once you arrive and show your ticket (handy to just show on phone) you receive a VIP badge to wear round your neck throughout the day to gain excess to the VIP area which has additional offers, treatments available and where you get your goodie bag (we did not collect our gorgeous treats until the end of the day as bag was  packed with beautiful goodies).  If you have a VIP ticket remember to book your THRIVE event as soon as you see the one you want as the more popular ones go quickly e.g. Russell Brand and Fearne Cotton slots were fully booked really quickly.

Once you get inside you then have access to everything, as shown above, and can go round each ‘booth’ at your own pace.  We availed of the hair and beauty treatments and although queues for getting your hair done were v long, we didn’t really mind as we were in no rush but we did have to wait well over an hour & a half even though we went early but it still was worth it.     There is also a number of areas where you can get complimentary food, soft drinks (e.g. Diet Coke) and also purchase food.   Time just flew past and we did not leave the event until almost 9pm (closing time).

Definitely intend going back next year if I can because it even surpassed my expectations and I was expecting a lot – so many inspirational / informative talks, fashion shows, treatments, refreshments, and also good selection of brands, products to try and I discovered a number of new products as well – well worth the ticket price.     It is obvious a lot of planning, work goes into  this event,  v well organised, laid out although some booths were quite close together which made it a little bit more difficult to navigate at the busier times of the day but we did not mind this too much.    It is definitely worth all the ticket prices especially the VIP ticket when you take account of the additional treatments, refreshments, facilities you can avail off and the goodie bag you get.  If I lived near London would still  be happy with a bronze or silver ticket but when you have to travel a distance, I think the VIP ticket is the best option as the additional talks, treatments, food  available enhances your day’s enjoyment.

Therefore I  would highly recommend attending / purchasing tickets for the 2018 event when they become available if you can as we both thought it was a brilliant day  and really, really enjoyed it – v best event I have ever attended even taking account of the travelling we had to do to get there.  Many, many congratulations to all involved.

Few recommendations / tips for the day:

  • Book the VIP or other tickets when offers are on if you can;
  • Ensure you book your Thrive event as soon as possible if a VIP ticket holder;
  • Sign up for all the updates on the events on social media so you are fully aware of what is going to be available – updates on who and what will be available;
  • Get your free Stylist magazine which also gives details on the event and many other topics – copies of the most recent issue are available at the event too;
  • Nearer the date of the event, plan what you want to see, do on the day as when you go you will see so much;
  • Make sure you avail of as many offers as you can as this is a great way to learn about new brands and try new products; and finally
  • Just relax and enjoy your day; the perfect pampering experience.

Now onto the goodies we got (so, so impressed with the goodie bag well over the stated £150 stated value, but remember this is only available for VIP ticket holders) – we also were given a number of products to try from different brands, which was a great way to see if suitable prior to purchasing (all ticket holders have access to this.

The goodie bag:

Some of the other complimentary products we got to try and there was even more available:

Hope you enjoyed reading about the event – would love to know if you attended this year and if so what you thought of it – did you enjoy it as much as we did?

If you are not a follower would love you to subscribe / follow my blog too would mean a lot.  Intend to have more posts up tomorrow and during/end of the week.

Thank you for reading – hope you have a fantastic week.

Best Wishes Liz x

My Little ‘Rouje’ Box – September 2017

Hi Everyone

Monday again – hope you all had a great weekend but it just goes past too quickly.

I received the September 2017 My Little Box on Saturday, bit later this month.   The theme for this month’s box is  La Vie En Rouje’   – As always the box, cards, print, packaging coordinated perfectly in line with the theme but missing the lovely ‘quote’ sticker inside this month’s box again.     The box costs £14.95 (inclusive of p&p) per month (but as said before always check to see if any offers on first, if thinking of subscribing).

Although a slightly ‘plainer’ design this month still love it, v ‘chic’ and the red / cream theme v in fashion at the moment as well.  There also is a bigger booklet / type magazine included this month which I like.

 Included in this months box are:

A ‘My Little Box’ Rouje T-Shirt –  this is a fine white cotton t-shirt with Les filles en Rouje embossed on front – I think is a S/M t-shirt and although it does fit me will not be suitable for everyone –  I am happy to see this included as I cannot have enough white t-shirts perfect with jeans, skirts, trousers tucked in or worn out;

No ‘My Little Box’ drawstring pouch again this month instead the following three ‘beauty’ items came in a red and cream ‘My Little Box – Bons baisers de Jeanne’ patterned paper bag:

My Little Beauty Rouge Lipstick (FULL SIZE)  love the design on the packaging and it is a lovely red  lipstick with blue undertone.  Does feel nice on the lips, lovely colour, although does stain slightly but I find that with most red lipsticks anyway – perfect for this time of year and in line with this months theme;

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil for Face, Body and Hair (Sample Size 10ml) although do like this multi task product (though prefer for hair & body ) think I may have received it in a previous box as well – although still handy size for travelling;

Nuxe Prodigieux Precious Scented Shower Oil (Sample Size 30ml) – Another Nuxe product, one I have tried before and although I do like it not my favourite shower oil but nice for when you have that special night out as has a shimmer as well so perfect to use in combination with the oil above.

As always do like the theme this month and  although still v good value  slightly disappointed again this month with the contents , definitely feel there is something missing compared to the majority of My Little Boxes I have had previously (had similar thoughts last month as well).  As although I do love this months t-shirt and like the My Little Box Lipstick  bit disappointed with the beauty items this month as although it is nice to have coordinating products think it would have been better to include another brand or an additional makeup item.  Also prefer a drawstring bag as I find them so handy for re-using, taking on holidays, carrying items in my handbag, so hoping more will be included in future boxes.   I also  think another ‘accessory’ item would have helped this box as well.  Not my favourite box to date but then my expectations are high from past boxes.

Any queries / comments please let me know, also if you received this months box would love to know what you thought of it?

If you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.  I will have more posts up later in the week.

Hope you have a great week.

Thank you & take care.

Best Wishes Liz x

YOU Beauty Box – Sept 2017 Edit (The Last One)

Hi again

img_2166

I received my September 2017 YOU beauty box (YBB) on Saturday but only getting round to opening it now  – I  was on the Gold Plan (£10.95 a month – chose of 4 items).  However sadly we have been advised that after four years the ‘September Edit’ will be the last YBB shortlist  / box.   YBB has now joined forces with their sister site Latest In Beauty (LIB) but to thank subscribers for their loyalty they are offering a Full Size Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment (worth over £50) when they subscribe to the joint LIB/YBB monthly Build Your Own Beauty Box and enter code YBB at the checkout – for more details please see photo below.

However onto what I selected / received in YBB September’s box:

Seahorse Plankton 5 Minute Miracle Mask (60ml) (FULL SIZE) RRP £14.99

States: delivers some serious plumping and firming.  Firm lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced, and skin is stimulated and rejuvenated with a beautiful glow.  Has a lovely creamy consistency and only has a slight fragrance not overpowering which I always prefer with face masks.  Looking forward to trying as love using masks;

Max Factor X False Lash Epic  (13.5ml) (FULL SIZE) RRP £11.99

Nice gold packaging but have so many mascaras to use up have not opened this one yet but description sounds v good – tip is supposed ‘to capture and magnify every detail of every lash for an epic lash fan.  No lash is left unseen’.

This a creamy polish although the granules are quite scratchy on the skin.   Unfortunately this product is definitely not for me as I really dislike the fragrance it smells to me like being at the dentist – smells of the products used for making a ‘mould’ for your crowns or fillings – really off-putting for me and I also feel the granules are just too coarse as well.

Love to know what you thought of this month’s box and YBB’s decision to join their sister site LIB.  Are you considering subscribing to the LIB Build Your Own Box?

Also if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Thank you and take care.

Best Wishes Liz x

Jeans For Genes Appeal 2017 Limited Edition Fashion T-Shirt

Hi Everyone

A short post to let you that the Jeans for Genes 2017 Limited Edition fashion t-shirt is now available to purchase on  the Jeansforgenesday.org website for £20I have already purchased mine and received it today.

What is Jeans for Genes?

Jeans for Genes is an appeal dedicated to raising funds that will help children suffering from genetic disorders.

Who does Jeans for Genes help?

The money raised on Jeans for Genes Day funds a range of initiatives that improve the quality of life of children affected by genetic disorders – please see the Jeans for Genes Day UK site for more detail.

How it happens in the UK

In the UK, one day every year – this year Jeans for Genes day is on Friday 22nd September 2017 – everyone is asked to throw out the usual dress rules, jump into their jeans and donate a sum to help this cause. The appeal also come up with ideas to raise extra funds, such as competitions and quizzes and  through their clothing including annual limited edition fashion t-shirts.

This year Jeans for Genes have teamed up again with Glasgow School of Art to bring you their latest limited edition fashion t-shirt which this year is designed by Molly Lindsay.

The T-shirt is £20 and comes in sizes UK 8 – UK 16 – all sizes still available at time of posting.

bottom-right-shop-2017.jpg

It is a beautiful good quality cotton, regular fit, short sleeve, black fashion t-shirt  with a slightly scoop neckline with the Jeans for Genes logo in white & blue and white detailing on the front.  I purchased the UK10/12 size and it is a perfect fit and I am usually a UK 10 on top.

I would definitely recommend visiting the Jeans for Genes Day website to learn more about this great cause, then by purchasing this t-shirt  or any of the other beautiful products on the site you can also be a part of Jeans for Genes day through supporting this excellent cause.   You can wear this year’s Limited Edition t-shirt any time not just the 22nd September 2017 – I still wear previous years t-shirts.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post – much appreciated.  Look forward to any comments you may have – if you are not already a follower would love you to follow my blog too – would mean a lot.

Best Wishes Liz x

Glossybox UK – July 2017 Edit Review

Hi Everyone

img_4592-1

I received a few of my beauty boxes last week including the ‘Hello Summer’ edition July Glossybox.   As always although I  have not got a chance yet to try all the products properly, just wanted to let you know my first impressions.  Glossybox is a  monthly beauty subscription box which costs £10.00 (plus p&p) per month (usually offers on when you sign up for your first box – You can sign up through my referral link here  if you want (thank you in advance if you do) and currently you can get 50% off your first box when you subscribe and a free beauty treat as well – this current offer valid until 30.07.17 or while stocks last) and 3, 6 & 12 monthly subscriptions are also available.

Five personalised beauty products are included each month which are normally sent wrapped in pink tissue paper with a black bow in the signature pink Glossybox, however as this month was a ‘Hello Summer’ edit, box is a beautiful coral/orange colour with matching tissue paper- adore the colour scheme this month.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder – FULL Size 4g RRP £25 – I love a number of Bellapierre products already, especially their lipsticks and delighted this is a full size item as well.  I think this is a brand that may not be given enough credit for their products so looking forward to trying this finishing powder – initial thoughts are it does feel soft and velvety on the skin.  Will post a separate review if impressed with results;

img_4606

img_4607

Spectrum Collections Small Fan BrushFull Size £4.99 – Another full size item and my favourite item in the box as adore spectrum brushes.  Beautiful colour schemes and also very reasonably priced. All their brushes I have tried to date are great quality.  Delighted this particular brush was included as was intending to get a fan brush anyway as had none in my collection.   I know spectrum brushes have been included in a number of beauty boxes recently and another one to be included in next months Birchbox – please see my post here for more details – however I personally do not mind as great way to add to my brush collection;

Macaroon Tint Balm in Crushed BerryFULL Size RRP £5.99 – Another Full Size item, we are being spoiled this month.  Design very cute and does smell so good as well.  It is a great product to carry in your handbag as it is for cheeks and lips, so handy for holidays as well;
