Review: Caudalie Cleansers, Glycolic Peel Mask & Overnight Detox Oil

Hi

Hope you are all had a lovely weekend and weather is good too wherever you are.

As I have said before I am always so, so grateful, feel so privileged when ‘companies/brands’ kindly *gift me products from their or a brand’s range to try. Recently Love Me Beauty v kindly sent me four Caudalie skincare products to try – I was over the moon as love a number of products from this range already.  You can find out more about the Caudalie brand / range via the link here.

They kindly sent me:

The Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil, Instant Foaming Cleanser, Glycolic Peel and Overnight Detox Oil.

Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil 150ml RRP £18

If you have been following me for a while you will know although I try a lot of cleansers one of my favourites at the moment is the L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil (you can see my earlier review here to know why), so I was really excited to try this oil to see how it would compare.

It states this moisturising grape & sweet almond Cleansing Oil can be used on the face and eyes works to dissolve all types of make-up, including waterproof, whilst removing impurities and cleansing the skin.  The blend of 100% naturally derived plant oils nourishes and softens the skin without leaving a greasy film.

Directions: Warm 3 pumps between your palms and massage onto dry skin, emulsify with a little water and rinse thoroughly.

This has a pump applicator which I prefer and has a slightly heavier oil consistency.  I applied / apply as directed and I found / find it does remove makeup easily but as I always remove my eye makeup with cotton pads and micellar water first I found two pumps is enough.  Alhough I do not mind a light almond fragrance when you add water to this cleansing oil the fragrance gets stronger and is more like a light marzipan fragrance which I am not a fan off.  Although it does feel really good on the skin and removes all types of makeup really easily.  Leaves my skin feeling really clean, refreshed, and hydrated as well, no tightness at all. I am really impressed with this cleansing oil and I think it is that good would say it comes v, v  close to  my ‘hero’ L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil (200ml RRP£19).  The only slight difference is the feel of the oil and the fragrance, (however you also get 50ml more, with the L’Occitane Cleansing oil, for only £1 extra unless either cleansing oils are on offer), prefer the L’Occitane one but I found the results were just as good with this one, so I would definitely consider purchasing this one and highly recommend trying both especially if you love oil cleansers.

Would consider purchasing.

Instant Foaming Cleanser 50ml RRP £7.50

It is described as a light and airy foam cleanser,  infused with purifying sage and moisturising grape extract, the soap-free formula rids the skin of impurities and gently cleanses the skin using 98% naturally derived ingredients. Skin is left refreshed and glowing, without stripping the skin of it’s natural moisture

Directions: Use morning and evening on damp skin. Rinse with water.

This also has a pump applicator and has a foam consistency, a fresh natural fragrance and feels lovely on the skin as well.   I applied as directed and found one to two pumps is enough, and although cleanses the skin really well and skin looks and feel refreshed, I found skin a little bit tight on areas after using, although no other irritations. I have combination skin so think this cleanser may be even better on an oiler skin. Although I do think it is still a good enough cleanser and I do like the fragrance, not as good as the cleansing oil for me personally so will not be purchasing.

Just not for me,  not as good as the cleansing oil above.

The Glycolic Peel Mask – All Skin Types 75ml RRP £22

Described as for anyone suffering with dull complexion in need of an instant boost of radiance. This dual-action skin renewal treatment works like a scrub and a peel at the same time, for a renewed skin effect.  Formulated with 85.7% natural origin ingredients, this luxurious and non-irritating mask provides the ultimate spa-like glow from the comfort of your own home.

  • Gently exfoliates
  • Activates cell renewal

Directions: Apply the mask twice a week to dry skin, avoiding the eye contour area. Leave on for 10 minutes then rinse with water

This mask comes in a squeezy tube with a screw wooden type cap – as it is classed as a peel was not sure what to expect. However I was v pleasantly surprised when I seen it had a thick cream consistency and a light natural fragrance.   I applied as directed and it feels so comfortable on the skin there is no problem leaving on for the 10 minutes.    So easy to remove with water, leaves skin looking bright, revigorated and smooth to the touch, gives the skin a lovely boost.  Looks like you had a really good nights sleep.   I definitely think this mask gives that little bit extra, think this is down to the mixture of the ingredients; Glycolic acid, Papaya and Viniferine (this is a new one for me but states is for radiance).  Although this tube will last for ages even using twice a week I will definitely purchase and would recommend trying for yourself if you can.   My favourite product out of the 4 items.
Will Purchase.

Most expensive of the four items and one I am still undecided about.

States this dry oil will renew & protect overtired skin while you sleep. Is ideal for skin exposed to stress, pollution, UV’s & other free radical’s. The skin is detoxified and smoothed, the complexion refreshed.

Infused with anti-oxidant grape-seed, regenerating rose hip, purifying neroli, soothing lavender and detoxifying carrot oils, this 100% plant-based formula promotes cellular renewal & toxin elimination.

  • Regenerates
  • Detoxifies
  • Smoothes out lines
  • 100% natural origin formula.

Directions: Apply 6 drops in the evening, either alone or before your moisturiser.  Avoid the area around the eye.

This oil comes in a glass bottle with a dropper applicator – the fragrance is slightly stronger, still a natural fragrance but not one I would normally reach for. I applied as directed and used both without  and with a night time moisturiser.  It does apply easily and although 6 drops seems a lot at the beginning it does not take too long to sink in, although a slight sheen remains.  It does feel comfortable on and skin does feel hydrated. In the morning skin does appear to be slightly brighter but did not notice a lot of difference when I used without a moisturiser, still not sure about smoothing out fine lines as have not noticed any additional benefits than just with my ‘normal’ night time serum / moisturiser.

That  being said some mornings I think my skin does maybe look more refreshed but not sure if that is down to the oil or just having a better nights sleep.  Therefore at this stage would not considering purchasing as still undecided about results – however will keep using in my skincare routine to see if I notice any additional benefits with prolonged use and if I do, will let you know.

Still undecided – at this stage will not be purchasing.

I was v happy to get the chance to try these four products especially as I now would definitely purchase the Glycolic Peel Mask and consider purchasing the cleansing oil.

    Hi Liz,

I have a sample size of the cleansing oil and it’s very good.

The cleansing foam I got as a gift through a subscription magazine that you recommended. I found that if you use it on dry skin then it’s amazing.

The rest of the range I haven’t tried but I do think that the brand is of high quality and would without hesitation try more products.

Hope you had a great weekend and although it’s not hot where we are it’s very pleasant.

Thank you again for another great post and we’ll chat soon.

    Love from Susie

      Hi Susie

Thank you, yes I got few samples of the cleansing oil after I received this set and have them along with my travel sizes if I get away anyway soon.

I agree think it is still a good enough cleanser just not as good results for me personally as the cleansing oil but a friend of mine prefers the foam.

Yes having a lovely time when the weather is good you seem to get far more done.

      Take care and chat soon.

      Love Liz xx
